But is it Napoleon run as good as it can go or the current engine with Napoleonic units?
Interested to know as I've run Napoleon on ultra 1080p (i7 4720HQ and GTX 970m) and I'm sure it didn't have that level of detail iirc... even zoomed in there was clipping and whatever you call it when units don't quite sync animations right (like the cannon crewman ramming the shot down the barrel, only the rammer is outside the barrel or only just in it, that kind of thing)
From Rome 2 onwards I've never even played on more than a mix of High/V High so I can keep fps above 40 (970m not so good tbh)
Black Friday's coming and I've got some savings that say I can have ultra settings in the near furure though :)
Probably won't watch this though lol. Thanks for the awful memories ^^
Soooooo... not a fan of Nvidia then? : P
Terrible... why?
Is it because watching folks with no knowledge of military history or strategy muddle through hurts?
All the best,
Welsh Dragon
Yes, it made me feel sick to the core of my soul.

Lol, yeah I got caught out a little by that hype tbh. It's no biggie though. I got the laptop last year as a stopgap because I was going to be travelling around more. It's served me well and tbh you really don't notice any drops of quality much on a 17 inch screen.
I can do better this year as I'm staying put though I'm sticking with 1920x1080 or even 2560x1080 30+ plus inches even though my budget can fit 3440x1440 at a stretch (though I'm going to have to build now and get the required monitor in 3-4 months and use my TV in the meantime) Also a desktop can last forever with but a few well chosen upgrades... a year or so from now this laptop is going to be no good for the latest and greatest at recommended settings, even at 1080p.
I'm not even going to go with a GTX 10xx laptop because sitting in a chair at a desk to play and reach necessary keys triggers my back arthritis and I'd rather use my recliner and a large screen to play PC but console style...
Understandable. I do remember the folks that did the battle of Leuctra in the original series owned it though. Even the history buff they had was like "wow, well played". The idea of oblique order isn't well grasped by many folks.
All the best,
Welsh Dragon.
Amusingly, I do recall that the group from the military academy fluffed one battle completely (Alexander vs Indians) while one family group convincingly and effectively won the battle of Stanford bridge (Norman conquest campaign).
A quote from the history buff: "Harald Hardraada, battle king of Norway.... being beaten by a 10-year old from Birmingham..."
It was amusing at the time. I think I heckled quite a bit...
Actually, my wife heckles at our mutual TV watching more than me, so maybe I'll get Tivo to record it so I can keep up the balance of marital heckling...
