Also, should I start with this one or go for TW Warhammer II. I haven't played any of the Total War series.
Like what?
I decided to give it a go, hopefully like it.
I doubt there will be a GOTY, you can pick up discounted DLC and base game at retailers sometimes but these games are simply expensive because the publisher doesn't budge on it's prices. On the other hand you can easily soak several hundred hours in this. I've heard from some that Warhammer 1 has better performance than 2 but I can't say, I only own 1 at this time. Something worth noting is that all DLC in Warhammer 1 carries over into Warhammer 2 (so if you buy a faction in WH1 its also playable in WH2, Norsca still has to be patched into 2). Owning both 1 and 2 (base games) unlocks a new campaign map that is sort of an altered combination of the campaign of game 1 + 2 together.
Their goal is to have game 1, game 2, game 3 each with base game + DLC that carries over into the next game. If you want all content it'll be pricy but it will mean the third game should be pretty huge.
LOL. Nonsense. There won't be a Gold edition because they'd lose money. That's all.
