My favorite ability of the Wood Elves (or Argwyn) is that they have only 4 major cities (40 slots in total) and the rest are just outposts. This gives you so much flexibility in attacking and raiding. Especially in the late game as these outposts serve as both lookout and minor buffs (I went for the 1% for 30 outposts by the time I finished my Ultimate Objective) (That stacks up to 30% bonus in missile dmg! Imagine that!)
Another lovable ability of Wood Elves is that during the late game, if you have unlocked the replenishment buff + 5% buff from the skill tree, you can practically fight stacks of enemies every turn with almost full hp units! That's ludicrious! Especially since most of the units are heavily centered on ranged dmg. Most of the replenishment will be your front line tanking infrantry (Think 3 Treekins defending your flanks with 2 or 3 stacks of Eternal Guards or Dryads defending your center + your hero + Brainchwrath while having the backline supported with a mixture of Starfire shafts (armor piercing) + Poison tips (poison... debilitating poison!) literally eradicating stacks of enemies as you focus fire down key targets (giants | grave guards | Vargulfs | etc...)
If you love to micromanage your army, Wood Elves is for you.
- very strong economies
- alot of alliance
- best infantry ingame
- alot of arty
- very annoy Gyrocopter
- far from wood elf and Chaos
- easy to play
but honestly it's depend on player
Their horde system is actually a good one (unlike Chaos) and their unit roster is just awesome.
Though that's mostly because of the Minotaurs, Gorebulls and Cygors.
It is a real sight to see Minotaurs and Gorebulls charging into the enemy, hacking away everything that stands in their path.
Or you go the Morghur path and create a Cthulhu empire of tentacle spawns.
The only annoying thing is that the WEs will chase you over the whole map.
I would have said Chaos though if they had a horde system more similar to that of the Beastmen.
Chaos LLs are just awesome (at least Kholek and Archeon) and their unit roster is probably the strongest all around.
It's not seldom that you fight two stacks of enemies and are able to come out on top.
I also have fun being the enemy of everyone and maw down all those goody-goody-sparkle-pants.
After those two come the Vampire Counts in my book.
They have an overall cool theme and a fun unit roster.
Mannfred and Vlad are also kind of one man armies.
most fun.. greenskinz
Beastmen/Chaos for their aggressive gameplay, they dont have any cities to defend, only themselves and its actually cool.
Vampire Counts just because I like undead things in any game.
Wood Elves have a goofy economy that's either crap or OP, depending on how you go about it.
Dwarves are boring, since they have basically one playstyle.
Chaos is too bland a roster.
Beastmen are fun, but less fun than Empire or VC.
Greenskins are also lots of fun, but a bit on the easy side when it comes to the campaign. Basically once you finish conquering the Badlands, your economy (and thus military) are strong enough to roll over the rest of the map.
Its core army is well rounded and familier: Spearman up front, Crossbows in back, Morters provide artillery support, Knights deliver powerful charges to enemy flanks.
Its economy is stable, it has good diplomatic relations with Dwarf and Bretton factions, it can confederate with other Empire factions easily.
Later in the game, you get a huge selection of magic schools to experiment with, and some really cool toys like Steam Tanks and Demigryph Knights. Its definitly a good faction to learn game mechanichs from.
One piece of advice...make building garrison and wall structures a priority. It will save you a lot of grief.
never care about public order! just let revolts and riots happen... they are free fightiness, free exp for your armies and you get money when you beat them
so without caring for public order you can go full income buildings
a minor town should have walls (garrison building) an income building and a building that reduces corruption
you really can't go wrong with greenskin, just keep fighting fight evreything, everytime.. don't be scared to fight on too many fronts, you want it that way! rank up your heroes and lords (goblin big bosses, love them!! they are one if not THE best assassins out there perhaps together with witch hunters
and then there is the greenskin support hoho! da big WAAAGH! lore has among the best supportive spells
In Dawn of War they are fine...
