How to build Vlad von Carstein?

First time playing as vampires. I assume with Isabella you really want to put a lot of points into magic since she seems like a caster type, but with Vlad I'm not really sure how to allocate his points. Is it best to build him for magic, melee, or army buffs?

I just do what the lore usually did with him and build him for melee and army buffs

army buffs are always a good way to go.

Get the hunger, his uniques, raise dead, skeleton/zombie/ghoul army buffs, then go straight for lighting strike. Afterwards you go back to army buffs for that sweet bonuses to crypt horrors and grave guards. The rest doesn't matter.
