Durthu came out on top. Wulfrik on mammoth is about the same. I didn't test Kholek though,
As it is, Durthu/Wulfric are the best ones, unless you use a mod to remove regen cap.
But in straight up melee combat without abilities and without spells the best generic lord is going to be a tossup between the dwarf lord, orc boss and chaos lord imho, I haven't actually done any testing to confirm which it would be though.
You can force-move away from clumps of units(just keep trying to move away from them) if your unit has enough mass(as in, if it's bigger/heavier than the enemies), it'll throw them to the sides. Otherwise, the best way is to not get encircled in the first place.
You can't fly if you're currently taking damage, so stuff that is faster than you and can cause damage will keep you from flying indefinitely.
