i wont grant total war access rights to my steam account ... never

The type of access it specifically requests is one for granting CD keys to your account, and that's all.

This is what I was talking about, all the people who mention, that it is easy to register to access, then forget the account... basically a useless website where I have to register to download something I solved long ago by simply adding it on steam.

Now it is just a longer process to get the FREE-LC they upload.

And no I'm not complaining, that it is free or not free, but so far I could simply add it from steam, now I have to register and you guys say forget the account, but if I do at the next FREE-LC I'll need to register again...

The world is relative sure, but forcing players to register to a site they'll use once every few months, while adding it to steam (or rather sticking to something, that worked for everyone and no one complained about) would have made it easier for everyone.

A game developer the size of CA absolutely must have an online presence and a forum to facilitate community contact. Anything else would be weird. And it makes sense that they'd also have a budget for marketing and directing people to see their online presence and be taken in with all the cool stuff on offer.

Now, if they've taken some of that marketing money and instead directed it at an ingame marketing gimmick then I'm all for that. The alternative would probably have been money spent on some other media nonsense instead. More videos, more desktop images, more ads for TWWH 2, or what have you.

It isn't mana from heaven, but it's better than so many other things the could have done, isn't it?

And frankly, it takes all of five minutes to create the email account suckmynutsack@gmail.com, then register a free account at TWA using that email account, then start the game, wait for the 30 RoR pop-up, click the question mark, log in to TWA with your newly created account, get the RoR DLC, and then close the email account and forget everything about your TWA account.

THIS!! THIS IS WHAT I DID.
That being said, it is really anoying hearding us to sign up in the first place. Just post up the DLC like all the other DLC. I dont like the idea of hearding gamers. Most everyone that wants to be in the fourms is already there. If they want to market to us, we have the news tab on steam, and youtube, and the game login. I know what CA wants us to play just by looking at those three things without even tryin.

I just noticed a problem with their privacy policy. Under the the Access/ Sega privacy policy (CAN I CHOOSE HOW MY PERSONAL INFORMATION IS USED section), there is an apparent issue with their 'unsubscribe' method.

It says you can go to the e-mail confirmation message they send you when you activcate your account and hit the Unsubscribe button if you don't want to receive spam, etc. However, while the button/link to their forums and support work, the Unsubscribe button curiously does not work.

It could be an oversight, or maybe they just don't want people signing up, claiming their 'free gifts" and then locking down their account. Either way, they should look into enabling that button/link ASAP as they are apparently not in compliance with their own privacy policy.

This MUST be coincidental! ;)

There is loads of methods that could have been used, it would have been easier if dlc keys were sent directly from CA to steam accounts. I have plently of games which had updated versions of such games suddenly appear in my game's library, and a big thanks to such developers.

Instead we have a split in the community, fans vs fans all because CA wanted to do this way, it sucks.

People say just create account, but it still has to link with your steam account.

Not being funny but if I was a keen total war access user I would not want disgruntled people using it, because they felt that they were pushed to use.

Wanting an email isn't that bad, when they want your mobile number so they can send you a pin, THAT'S when you should complain. I tried making an xbox account and they wanted my pin number to register the account. So i sold the xbox and got a ps4.

This is probably the most useless thread on the Steam forums yet, good job.

Its free, so I wont complain.
Most of the time you pay for a game, and you have to install a stupid launcher to play it (Bnet, Steam, Uplay)
Bnet, Steam, Uplay and Origin was created by publishers, CA isn't a publisher.

Not sure about valve, not much developement from them these days.

Watch out, he went onto my negative review and commented "are you retarded?", I'm actually attempted to delete his comment.

I agree it does eems pointless signing up for yet one more place which will no doubt get hacked and all out email addresses etc leaked, but at least it seems to be just Total War related emails that we will get according to people that have been saigned up for several months.
