Also if you don't use regiments of renown in your main armies, if you suddenly see a full orc stack near your city, you can just quickly summon a lord and spam all the RoR units into it to have a good chance of beating the orc stack in battle
I don't know. I thought those were free for everyone. Then again, I just get every dlc for warhammer as soon as I see it *shrug* It's not like RoR can get stronger through experience but they do make great mercs
RoR units for Dwarfs and Greenskins: "The King and the Warlord" DLC
RoR units for The Empire and Vampire Counts: "The Grim and the Grave" DLC
They will have to deal with orks from above and rats from underground
They have a good economy (even a goldmine nearby), Good armor and damage and the best Ranged power ingame. You can just castle with your units and go afk wile your Infantry tanks the attackers the ranged units shoot them down. (to say it a bit over the top.. i think i should test that some day)
And they have a very easy to defend starting position. In the hills you have natural Walls all over so the enemys come from only 2 sides most of the time.. not from 100 sides like with Empire or Vampires.
They don't really favour agressive expansion in my experience - I generally don't take a new settlement until I have built a wall on the previous one or can park an army on it.
My usual army comp & set up is essentially:
MMMM
MQQQQM
GGG
M: Melee
Q: Quarrlers
G: Grudge Throwers
Melee units hold the line, Quarrlers pin cushion everything and Grudge Throwers soften enemies up as they march into quarrlers range.
The grudge system punishes you badly for overextending.
If you want to give the Cav and Hounds, wh try to charge your back, a middlefinger you can even:
MMLHMM
MRRRM
MAAAM
MMMM
Melee
Ranged
Artillery
Lord and Hero
If the frontline is wounded you can change place with the back rank.
Btw thats the common dwarf gameplay on the Tabletop too. But there you use the end of the Table for a safe back and even one side if you place your troops in a corner.
Since the Cannons have almost unlimited range in the tabletop its no problem.
Good point - in the early turns I rely on quarrlers being passable melee to hold long enough for warriors to support for Cav attacks.
Also Sunset (I am happy to be corrected here): the reason I specify Grudge Throwers rather than cannons etc is because of their fire arc - Grudge throwers will always fire over the units in front of them, cannons will fire through them if the enemy gets too close.
That’s not a one way street, orcs will have to also contend with them as well, and skaven with the other 2 and that 2 beastmen stack down there being annoying for a bit an then tomb kings too are somewhere near down there too right?
The badlands are gonna get crowded after a while
My main problem is I am not sure how to counter the enemy calvalry from getting behind my units and taking out my ranged units and war machines.
I just don't have any units that can react fast enough to a cavalry charge of wolf riders or horsemen. Went up against the Badlands princes becuase they went to war against an friendly dwarf faction. Their cavalry demolished my army, but my lord survived and killed 356 of the enemy before he perished.
Summary of the battle close defeat.
