Those are called eggs because of the shape and not because of their function.

The only 'eggs' that occur in fungus are gametes, the egg cell. In sexually reproducing fungus it's useless by itself unless fertilized. At which point it is no longer an egg cell, but a spore.

That would be like saying a human embryo is still an egg, even after it has formed arms and legs. Similarly, plant seeds and fungus spores aren't eggs but are, in a sense, embryos. They are just embryos that do not grow unless certain conditions are met. (Certain animals can halt the development of an embryo for one reason or another.)

My theory is that orcs are, in fact, a living, breathing, anger filled collection of spores and organs vital to survival. An orc apparently does not reproduce until it dies (Though I saw one source say larger orcs begin to shed spores. No idea if it's true or not canonically.)

The way my theory goes is that the the skin or muscle of an orc is nothing more than a collection of spores, kept alive and in place by the creature being alive. When the orc is slain in combat, the spores disperse, plant into the ground, and effectively clone the original creature tenfold. Of course, there is genetic mutation in each spore, which helps determine if that particular greenskin is more or less aggressive, which is of course the difference between success or failure in their society, and also how features like the fangs and face will develop (otherwise if you managed to kill Grimgor, suddenly there'd be thirty of them, No thank you!)

Of course that's just a theory, and thanks to Games Workshop giving the boot to developing the fantasy lore and going more in depth to the biology of the stranger creatures like the orcs, we'll never know.

Orks are fungus in the 40K version
Orcs in fantasy, who knows?.

But both Fantasy Orcs and 40K Orks eco system is based on mushroom.

Maybe this will help:
"The Greenskins is a hybrid of animal and fungal lifeforms and reproduce by means of spores being continuously released by the Greenskins' body. When these spores take root, the infant greenskin is formed underground and once fully matured, would dig its way to the surface under the dome of a shriveled mushroom cap.
This is the entire basis of the Greenskin ecosystem, producing first Squigs, then Snotlings who cultivate the Squigs and the fungus they feed on, then Goblins to build the Greenskin settlements, and finally the Orcs themselves. This means the Greenskins, wherever they go, will have an abundance of food, slaves and other resources, a moving ecosystem that supports them as they unleash their WAAAGH! across the known world.

Go ahead and call me a edgelord if you wish OP, this has been a post to try and help, not to make people feel stupid.

Well, you don't say mushrooms lay eggs.. They're clearly different entities.
