Pyrrhic Victory - really?
Firstly - I love this game but there are a few things that annoy that could be fixed relatively easily (perhaps). I've been playing Wurzag on VH and struggling a bit but overall enjoying it. Like most campaigns the early stages are the most difficult and Wurzag's territory is quite large and surrounded by hostiles so I'd pretty much been fighting off enemies on three sides when two large greenskin armies invaded. I rushed to position near one of my smaller settlements (Bitterstone I think) and sure enough was attacked by Grimgor +1. To retreat would have been fatal but the odds for an auto resolve did not look good. So to battle... It was already fairly late when I started and the battle probably lasted about 2 hours but it was all worth it. I triumphed against 2:1 odds with my army mainly comprised of savage spearmen and archers. Then up pops the snide message ""Pyrrhic Victory - do you even dare to call this a victory? etc etc". Well, yes I do call it a victory - and probably a pivotal one. I appreciate that it might be difficult to factor in the strategic significance of every battle, but simply (as I suspect) looking at losses usually misses the point, especially when the victory is against greater odds and/or determines the fate of a settlement.
Other minor gripes include:
when granting a character a horse (hog, dragon etc) why tell me again via a new dialog box?
also why give two messages about raiding with that bloody awful screaming noise?

Maybe I'm playing too much? LOL

Pyrric victory is just that you won, but lost a lot of people/health etc. Named after King Pyrrhus of Epirus for the same reason. Though that extra message seems a little harsh under the circumstances.

The 2 messages are 2 seperate game events I guess. If you swap the mount (for whatever reason) it will come up with the 2nd message, unlocking the mount is a different event it just happens to auto equip the new mount and trigger the 2nd event.

That is a very accurate description of what pyrrhic means.

The definition is :

"(of a victory) won at too great a cost to have been worthwhile for the victor."

Total war games have never really got this right... its been broken in many TW games.
Its particularly bad in Warhammer.

Even worse when u play Vamp with in battle summoned units as it seems to count those in the stats.. which is really stupid.

Ive done test to show it. I don't know why its so hard for the developer to get this right....

And if it's its using just HP that is a very poor way to measure the victory results.

I'll never forget the time I was brettonia and my 800 units faced down over 3,000 undead. I lost 14 units and killed all of the 3,000 undead. Still got a Pyrrrhic victory.

Lol. Yeah. The factors deciding what kind of victory you have is definitely off. Playing with smallest or second smallest unit sizes here due to lower hardware abilities, I had a victory where I killed 200/300 enemies, losing maybe 30 men myself and get the "close victory" message. Lol
