Empire: What Technology Path Would You Recommend?
It's turn 67, and so far things are going pretty damn great. Chaos has yet to hit, thank goodness, I've conquered Marienburg and confederated Averland, Wissenland, and Stirland (in that order) by turn 40, and for most of that time experienced unprecedented economic prosperity, having only started my march on Sylvania by turn 64, and I've already conquered Templehof and most of Eastern Sylvania. I'm currently building up veteran armies with late game units (thank you Empire Captains), and now I just need to figure out what technologies to prioritize from here on out.

The technologies I've already researched are as follows:

State Troop Sergeants
State Troop Standards
State Issued Infantry Armor
State Issued Weapons (wow, the State has been busy, huh?)
Mercantile Fleet
Sea Charts
Draft Irregulars
Purge Dark Cults

Based on everything so far, what technologies do you think I should pursue, and in what order?

P.S. I'm a couple turns from having one of each building, so I should be able to research any technology from this point.

Anything to do with growth, economy, chaos/vamp corruption and public order, in that order, if you're unsure pursue them. I actually use that for every game, faster your cities grow, more money you will get, and then of course economy is very important as well, bigger armies you can get. I wish there was more depth like Civ has, but Total War's research paths are kind of illusion of depthness.

Oh? I would have figured that prioritizing the military techs might be prudent at this point. But then again I've only managed to expand into the Southern Empire provinces, and I do have plenty of time before I need to start conquering Talabecland and Ostmark. Hmmm. I suppose there are a few easy ones in growth to pursue, as well as the Livery and Temple techs. If only I didn't want Improved Heavy Weapons so badly, not to mention Rifled Barrels and Supply Wagons and Volley Fire. Ach, if they didn't take so long to research...

Ive finished the game 4 time, Emp, Dwarf, Orc and Vamp, on VH, Ive not needed better Military Techs at all. Growth is the most important one, imho.

True, growth is important. But then, the Empire can really grow astoundingly fast, especially once you start getting Warrior Priests. Whoo, those things can really boost a province. But yeah, fair enough, may as well pursue the growth tech now while it's still useful. Thanks for replying.

Research Path are more like a side-dish instead of part of the main-dish. Wish it was more important part of the main-dish.

You already done the important techs. Now it quite simply depends, what kinda units you wanna field. Youre gonna use lots of cavalry, then do those, great swordsmen do those, steam tanks and artillery do those.

I always use alot of missile troops against Norsca (well at least 3-5 in each army) so doing the quicker reload tech and maybe the more ammunition tech is always worth it for me at this point. Then I usually do more armour for great swordsmen.

Getting the tech that reduces hero cost by 20%, is very nice. If you are hero heavy like I usually am :)

I try to always have a warrior priest in each province, +50 growth is amazing. If you build or conquer in a new province, it goes extremely fast to build up to walls :)
