That sounds pretty fun....Thoe I dont really play wood elfs much.
Sometimes I need to go into ambush stance to catch armies that don't want to fight. That's where the agents bringing down corruption comes in handy.
Fell bats, vargeists or any cav unit can take out hellcannons.
Blood knights and terrogeists are your anti-large, so they can handle trolls and giants.
Hexwraiths or Blood knights can take Chaos knights too.
Bringing a mortis engine if you can afford one will help too.
Oh, and how do Varghulfs stack up against Crypt Horrors? Which is preferable to have?
I use the diplomatic option to have allies target them. Starting with the nearest cities then moving inward. Doing this really helps lessen their incursions since they are defending their cities or losing them.
I usually use more than one allie to target one settlement. This helps insure at least one will go for it.
Depending on how things are going I may send an army or two to aid my allies.
Most times by the time a get a long victory they just have 2-3 settlements on the morthern coast with very little effort from me.
I also learned what helps is not wiping out an Norsca army when they are in your terrority. Do not wipe them out but weaken them and try to destroy as many units you can. This causes them to retreat to Norsca instead of raising another army. It buys you more time. Since instead of raising a fresh army right away they have to travel back to replenish.
