Whats the similiarest Faction to the Tau Empire in this Universe?

Tau are 40k, tottaly different universe, and I dont think tau have any races that compare.

No seriously. They're not ranged-obsessed like T'au, but they're the closest you'll probably get to T'au in setting. That said, they're closest to T'au in the same way Necron can be -said- to be closest to Tomb Kings, it's all surface / stuff you need to look for pretty hard / kinda half make up. Necron do -not- play like Tomb Kings after all.

High Elves are also greater good and have an affinity for ranged. Wood elves are more Chaotic Good. I think the Eldar are closer to the Woodelves than High Elves and Tau might be closer to Hiigh Elves. Now HE have not been introduced yet so it is hard to say if they resemble eachother. The Slann/Lizardmen are more neutral good imho and they strive to keep a status quo.

He meant nothing in fantasy Warhammer is even close to Tau in playstyle/lore.

I'd argue against that point though as others have said the Lizardmen share a fairly similar lore atleast in theme, and if you ask me WoodElves are quite a bit like Tau. I actually play 40k tabletop and although most casual players idea of Tau gameplay is static firepower it isn't. They are a highly mobile ranged army, only newb Tau players stand still and shoot.

They won't be included till the second game though, and they have very little focus on ranged warfare.

As I already said; Wood Elves are the closest thing gameplay wise. They focus on mobile firepower just like the Tau.

Clans, casts and various schools of combat and engineering. Also highly defensive when it comes to combat.
