deeper , Wardancer (Asrai Spear) have lower ws , weapon speed (not show in game) than wildwoodranger , if you fighting with real armored unit you will need Wildwoodranger .
They will lose if you send them against elite infantry like Black Orcs.
If you want damage output to kill stuff like Black Orcs (armored but not large) go Waywatchers + Treekin (or starfire + eternal guard if ur poor but its not efficient).
Which one is the OP one?
Whatever it's worth, Wardancers are actually a "Special" unit on the tabletop. They are even stronger if one goes by their lore/fluff in the books. Also, not sure if cavalry - even Grail Guardians - are meant to win a grind-fest against elite infantry.
They can't, I just tested it. Grail Guardians absolutely crush regular Wardancers 1v1 with minimal losses. Regular wardancers lack armor piercing damage and get destroyed.
Grail Guardians actually even do well against the spear Wardancers and Wildwood Rangers too surprisingly. Probably because they have 20% physical resist ontop of great defense/melee stats.
For those who doesnt know, grail guardian beats chaos knight despite having inferior stats due to the fact they r always fresh and chaos knights went exhausted half way thru giving up all the leads and end up losing.
Spear dancers advantage is that they r very fast and is a very good flanking units and doing more dmg to cav trying to flee when tied up. Front line - rangers. Flanking/support - spear dancers. Generally rangers are a lot more useful than spear dancers coz they have more numbers per unit.
Thanks for testing and reporting. I suspected this was the case, but I use my own mod, so I wasn't sure, and I did not want to revert to vanilla to test...
Shouldn't Eternal Guardians be the front-liners? In both vanilla and mods I've tested, non-shield infantry gets chewed up too fast by missile fire in this iteration of TW. Or are the Wood Elves not expecting missile fire since they can bring superior counter-battery?
Yes ure right, i just assume that u already have a solid core of eternal guard with a few spear dancers and rangers on the side. 3 guards per 1 ranger is a good ratio imo. But yea not easy tp use since in multiplay they will try to kill ur rangers first coz they r too high threat.
