Im still waiting for the Terrorgheiststeamtank Model! Its so sad they didnt make one so far.
If you wish to play in a alternative history of warhammer, then you should give it a try, but if you a lore fan, you will be disapointed. There are other mods, such as Steel Faith that maintain the lore.
1. they make every faction samey meaning factions basically get every unit under the sun and you end up making an army of elite infantry/spears/cav/archers for every faction army.
2. they completely trivialize game mechanics such as morale, so they your armies even if made of peasants are super hard to break, meaning they turn this total war game into any other RTS out there with no morale mechanics.
The biggest sin is that the makers of radious completely do not understand the concept of faction uniqueness and that factions asymetrical warfare is the appeal of the warhammer universe.
For total war:warhammer? Never. It completely breaks the lore and unique feel of each faction and makes the gane overall pretty easy in terms of difficulty in my opinion.
They do great work. But for fans of tabletop warhammer, its just not good.
For a better comparison, imagine someone modded rome total war 2 and decided to expand the greeks unit roster. The greeks historically are somewhat unique with elite spear infantry. Now imagine this modder going "Oh man wouldn't it be cool if greeks can recruit elite spartan Longbowman? Spartans should also have elite 2hand swordsmen to go with their hoplites too!"
So imagine this juvenile thought process applied to every warhammer total war faction, and thats what radious is.
This sums up radious perfectly.
Yeah, everyone has their own personal tastes but I could never understand the historical communities' liking of radious because that example you used is pretty much what they did - completely ignored historical fact and just added in "cool" units that made no sense whatsoever from a realistic standpoint.
His warhammer version aint so good imo.
In the end he is a great contributor and for some reason some people like to hate him. If you like his vision install his mod, it's free, if not the are other great overhauls to choose, like SFO or Campaings of the Old World among others.
Yea, the extra units worked out much better in his overhauls of the older titles.
I don't hate him by any means; in fact, I respect him for being such a dedicated modder. His overhaul was updated a day after the Bretonnia patch came out, which is cool.
I just don't agree with the changes he's made to this title. Makes all the factions too homogenized.
