What are the radious mods?
Im new to the total war genre (this is my first TW game) and i've been browsing though the workshop, noticing a lot of mentions about radious... been wondering what it is.

So far i researched it seems to be a mod that completely overhauls and changes the game?

Yes it does add alot of changes, from balancing to adding new units, I wont play without his mods, but there are some that do not like them.

a series of mods that while might have worked well in other TW games, dosnt work very well in this one, disliked by many as they feel it makes the game very easy, and adds unlore ful uints and ruins faction flavor

Isnt that the guy/team that cant stop cry because the comunity dislike their mods and tell everyone they stop making them and a month later they do mods again?

Im still waiting for the Terrorgheiststeamtank Model! Its so sad they didnt make one so far.

Radious is a very talented guy that has previous added many mods to various total war games. His mod is controversial in this case as it ignores all Warhammer Lore rules. It is a interesting momd to play, but it does compltely brake the Theme. Basicly he gives every faction more or less the same type of units, no matter what. So for instance, Undead will have access to archers. Pretty much he adds heavy armored units, that are more or less copies of each others in stats to all factions. The only exeption is, he has not as of yet really added artillery to undead, and cavalry to dwarfs.

If you wish to play in a alternative history of warhammer, then you should give it a try, but if you a lore fan, you will be disapointed. There are other mods, such as Steel Faith that maintain the lore.

It is what you prefer, since I was never a Warhammer fan, even if his mod does break the lore, it does not affect me haha, but I do understand how it could ruin it for someone who is really into it, I am a huge LOTR fan and I would be upset if they made a game that was based off of it and a mod were to change the lore, so I see the point of view. But yes, hes super good at what he does.

they are terrible mods that completely ruin the game.

1. they make every faction samey meaning factions basically get every unit under the sun and you end up making an army of elite infantry/spears/cav/archers for every faction army.

2. they completely trivialize game mechanics such as morale, so they your armies even if made of peasants are super hard to break, meaning they turn this total war game into any other RTS out there with no morale mechanics.

The biggest sin is that the makers of radious completely do not understand the concept of faction uniqueness and that factions asymetrical warfare is the appeal of the warhammer universe.

In any other total war game id recommend you play at least one campaign with radious.

For total war:warhammer? Never. It completely breaks the lore and unique feel of each faction and makes the gane overall pretty easy in terms of difficulty in my opinion.

They do great work. But for fans of tabletop warhammer, its just not good.

Yeah noticed steel faith. Thanks, your explenation made me aware why some people seem so whiney and negative towards it. Because it takes away the lore which appearently is really big with warhammer and faction speciality/uniqueness

Yeah exactly, the point of view is understandabel :p i'm normally a fan of lore, can be a real lore junkie with stuff even though the lore can be ♥♥♥♥. So for me it's weird, i played several warhammer games yet i never really bothered reading up on the lore. I dont know... i think its to much and overwhelming for me lol.

Well, ♥♥♥♥... that explains the hate and whining very well o.o Yeah i can understand much better now where all the hate for it comes from and it's not pure lore based etiher then.

For a better comparison, imagine someone modded rome total war 2 and decided to expand the greeks unit roster. The greeks historically are somewhat unique with elite spear infantry. Now imagine this modder going "Oh man wouldn't it be cool if greeks can recruit elite spartan Longbowman? Spartans should also have elite 2hand swordsmen to go with their hoplites too!"

So imagine this juvenile thought process applied to every warhammer total war faction, and thats what radious is.

This sums up radious perfectly.

Yeah, everyone has their own personal tastes but I could never understand the historical communities' liking of radious because that example you used is pretty much what they did - completely ignored historical fact and just added in "cool" units that made no sense whatsoever from a realistic standpoint.

Its an arcade overhaul, focusing on speeding the game up and removing any unit gaps in the factions.

His warhammer version aint so good imo.
MrButBut Mar 20, 2017 @ 4:59am
His mods focus on action and a lot of battles (also introduces a lot of units), the problem with Warhammer is that the gameplay and lore is designed to be asymetrical and his mod don't suit too well (in my opinion) in this game.

In the end he is a great contributor and for some reason some people like to hate him. If you like his vision install his mod, it's free, if not the are other great overhauls to choose, like SFO or Campaings of the Old World among others.

Yea, the extra units worked out much better in his overhauls of the older titles.

I don't hate him by any means; in fact, I respect him for being such a dedicated modder. His overhaul was updated a day after the Bretonnia patch came out, which is cool.

I just don't agree with the changes he's made to this title. Makes all the factions too homogenized.
