How would i use the fay enchantress effectively?
i cast a few spells and let her enter into melee combat once enemies get too close,
but how would i use her effectively?, i get she isnt as powerful as Orion or probably any other melee fighter

Probably the same way players would use Helman Ghorst on his corpse cart mount.

Actually, with her +15% ward save, 20% phys resistance from Lady's Blessing, +25% weapon damage from Attacker trait, Unbreakable from Legend trait etc. Enchantress becomes really tough in melee. Her weird basic explosion attack is somehow better than average Lord's weapon swing, at least in my subjective view. I always use her for assassinating other lords\heroes on Legendary difficulty.

I've used her in melee right from the start. You should always put your Lord inside the ranks of your own units so he/she won't get hit by 100 strikes each second. It is actually the most effective way to use any Lord with exception of Kholek/Durthu being too big.

Used her exactly as you typed and it works well. Just don´t send her in alone, obviously, but also not too early. Her unicorn & her special protections helps a lot. Ah that sweet unicorn.

I play her as close combat lord. Charing in the battle in the first line with the Knights as soon she has the Unicorn or with the infantry and cast buffs and healing spells on herself.

I had a battle against Woodelves were she killed Orion in a 1vs1 and after she killed him she killed 138 more Soldiers.

She can do combat against rank and file units but she isn't a melee lord. Her mist of the lady ability and ward saves are really useful. As for her red skill branch, you're probably better off skipping the battle pilgrim perks as pilgrims cost twice as much maintenance as other peasant infantry - too much. She can also get away with just taking the knightly vow if you're planning on her elite units being grail guardians and then she can supplement them with pegusas knights and realm knights. She's a very good LL but she needs to be with how her castle is spitroasted between Athel Loren and Estalia (AKA beastman central).
