Vampire bat spam counter

Is there any way to counter an airborne Vampire army? I have tried many differnet combinations but every time the bats and bat like creatures kill off my army 1 by 1, either though moral or actually wiping them out. If I try to counter attack then they just take off and do another hit and run attack somewhere else.

Play with anti-large units and cav. It's not really hard to deal with flyers.

In single player, I find whichever faction your playing as ranged units work well - make mincemeat of flyers.

No idea for multiplayer I'm afraid as havn't tried it.

Yeah, shoot them. In case of Vargheists it works even better, since you can shoot at them even if they're engaged in melee due to large size. Just make sure to employ a square formation for your ranged troops - it lets them turn faster and in case one gets engaged, the next one can swiftly turn and shoot directly into the threatened ally unit.

Okay, thanks for the suggestions. I have tried using anti large but their moral drops before they do any real damage and the ranged just get swamped by bats. I have not tried a cav army though. This is for multiplayer so the quantities of bats are ridiculous though
