The conditions for a Heroic Victory
What are they exactly? About how many men can you afford to lose and how much should the balance bar or unit difference be? I can only remember getting it a few times via siege battles and perhaps once or twice on land.

Not sure about it exactly but you have to be pretty heavily outmatched (maybe 2 thirds against you in the bar) and lose only something like a fifth of your army

I think it's just the defence version of pyrrhic

out tnumber and outclassed t0 to 1 typically if like past games

If I have to guess, it's the strength ratio between armies. If you win against heavy odds it's likely to be heroic.

But I think unit quality also matters, so winning a giant battle against thousands of Goblin Spearmen with a small core of RoRs won't count as Heroic, despite a strength ratio that implies otherwise.

A Heroic Victory is when you win a battle that you normally wouldn't or shouldn't win. It's hard to judge what the balance bar should be at, or troop strength, or whatever. But generally, when the balance bar is clearly not in your favor, and you win, you'll probably get a heroic victory. Like if it's 75% red, there's a decent chance of getting it. It can happen from defending and attacking.

I'm fairly sure it also has to do with if you lose a smaller amount of troops as well.

How I can trigger 5 heroic victories as Bretonnia? It's for the "The Dream of What Could Be" achievement.

Unlocked this achievement! Was very easy. I used King Louen Leoncoeur with battle skills. Disband all troops in his army and then just let one of your provinces rebel (raid your own lands). Then just attack rebels with only your lord. If it's too hard, reduce battle difficulty to easy. After you destroy rebels, you will get your heroic victory, then heal in town and then repeat the process 4 more times. That's it.

A Helblaster or Organ Guns would be fun too.

I got a lot of Heroic victories against the Vampire Counts. If you boost your regular wariors defense to big values with tech and your lord, they'll hardly die even when seriously outmatched. Then once your warriors have made contact, you can use your archers to damage them. They have usually few armored units, so just go for best melee offense and defense. You can easily win against 2 full stacks with ~16 troops with good strategy (in hard, not tried in very hard or legendary).

I manage to win against an aggressive dwarves army using VC Master Necromancer with stacks of zombies, heavily depend on the lord to wither down their army, I lose 2 units of zombies and wipe their army. Heroic Victory.
