Back in the day, they used to have one main bridge and maybe one ford or smaller bridge to one side... 'kin great battles.
And a two walled map, the walls facing each other and fairly close together.
Will they be somewhat toned down from previous games?
I remember in Med2 where the river battles could devolve into two armies staring at each other because the AI wasn't willling to charge your fortified position, but a lot of the time there was artillery duels, extensive archery, and much chaos as regards more than one crossing point.
Magic in this could tip that a lot, with either "dodge this when on that bridge!" AOEs, or with the ability to buff a very tough unit so they can take the beachhead. Will monstrous units be deterred by the water (giants wading across the rivers)?
Given the range on some spells of summoning, will that mean lpacing units across the river?
And of course there's the fliers. Artillery duel means zilch if Great Eagles eat your mortar crews....
Bridge battles would be interesting, but they wouldn't be quite as static as before...
What could you produce?
Also made a War of the Ancients campaign that I made a lot of models for and people liked.
And a few smaller maps designed with a kind of dark fantasy theme. Cannons, pistols, cursed pirates/nobles, vampires, etc. Pretty Warhammer actually.

In hindsight, I've probably released among the most actual custom models for WC3 from an individual author, in terms of quantity. Definitely over 200. Recently a "Must Have" masterpack of HQ WC3 models was released, just a compliation of the resources somebody had downloaded over the years. Was a pleasnt surprise to see a lot of my models in there. I also have countless unfinished maps that I've made models for and played myself, but haven't polished enough for release.
And Quest Battles, but that remains to be seen if that's actually a redeeming feature since we can't make battle speeches to open them up and I really don't know if we can make event triggers like when reinforcements show up.
Theres more features supposidly coming over the weeks
BUT they definitely said that if the editor is used and the demand is there, they will expand the feature further including siege battles.
They need to keep up the player activity for the game in order to sell more DLC and the expansions. So if people actually create and share a lot of maps then its very likely we get custom siege maps.
I feel like its the same reason they have not done it themselves, all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about a half functional siege editor is probably worse then delaying it.
