Perhaps some stout, beardy Dwarf player would be so kind as to give us a bit of a breakdown of the Dwarf legendary lords?
Thanks for the answer!
Do any of them have any particurarly interesting abilties? Or is it mostly just different flavors of killing all the things?
Hey, I'm not complaining. I can get down with that!
His blue skill line applies faction wide and has some really good bonuses to campaign movement, unit cost, replenishment and rank bonus.
Can get a nice bonus when defending increasing armour piercing damage and melee defense.
The ability of the Ancestor Gods give a good bonus to himself or his army. One being reducing upkeep of his army while reducing research time by 25%.
Can be a bit OP overall IMO.
I like Ungrim personally. The bonus to slayers is useful plus Ungrim will not break.
Belegar is the most interesting to play IMO. The starting location makes it a bit of a challege since it is hard to defend and you need to focus on troop production, income and defense all in one province early to early-mid game. Plus it is interesting to have a lord for the dwarfs that has a little different focus than the others, Dwarf rangers.
Thorgrim has an odd ability that buffs his army quite a bit (in a huge radius--250) when his own Leadership gets below 50%. He's also a very good fighter thanks to very high attack and defense scores plus a ton of HP. He's pretty much a greatly improved regular Dwarf Lord.
Ungrim is Unbreakable and can get anti-large bonus. He's not quite as good a fighter as Grombrindal but still quite powerful.
Grombrindal, notably, has an "ancestor" mechanics where every bunch of turns he can choose a different campaign bonus.
Belegar has something worth noting--he doesn't get the "Red" skill that buffs higher-tier infantry like Longbeards, instead getting a +charge bonus to all troops. I prefer the +attack and defense skill other Lords get, myself, but Belegar can give his army a pretty powerful charge, which isn't bad. He also gets a Red skill that buffs Rangers but not Quarellers and Thunderers--something of a downgrade, I feel.
Belegar is MUCH harder than the others, though. His penaly for not owning the Eight Peaks is very punitive compared to Skarsnik's. He does start with some high level assassin-proof ghost heroes.
On another note, he is a great fighter, not as good as Grombidal against on foot Lords and troops, but great against monsters, cavalry, and mounted Lords.
I don't like to pick Grombidal for lore reasons, he should be a Legendary Hero like the Green Knight, not a general.
Cheers.
