Priority: Game Breaking
Summary: Robot Arena 2 is not Robot Arena 3
Steps:
1) Launch Robot Arena 2
2) Realize you launched Robot Arena 2 and not Robot Arena 3
3) Close Robot Arena 2
4) Check Steam for Robot Arena 3
5) Realize that Robot Arena 3 isn't available until this evening.
Expected Results: Robot Arena 3 should be on the desktop
Reproductibility: Always
I hope you don't mind that I put this here as a joke while we wait for release.
Priority: minor
Summary: my new robot that has never fought has a win-loss ratio of 37-6
Steps:
1) choose robot
2)select summary
3)win-loss ratio is incorrect
We ready to assist by any help that we can...
Priority: game breaking
Summary: on build screen camera pans to bottom upon release of mouse click.
Steps:
1) fight bot in match
2) select different camera angle
3 )can no longer build bots due to camera moving
Priority: Minor
Summary: Camera View in Lab is Sticking to the Bottom part of the bot. You can move the camera while holding right click but when you let go the screen moves down to the bottom again.
Steps:
1) Go to Lab
2) Create a New Bot
3) Hold Right Click and Move Mouse
Expected Results: Camera should move properly
Reproductibility: Once so far - restart fixed it
Blocker
Career mode can't be restarted
1. Play career mode - once you win the tournament you can only back out, continue does nothing
2. Once all the tournaments are done you can't reset or restart any.
3. Make new team, copy over bots is only way to play again.
This needs improvement. Others reported same issue.
Major
Multiplayer mode
1. Try to join online game
2. Usually doesn't connect
3. When it does - game lags then froze up
4. Try to host game - freezes up once we both we're ready
5. Multiplayer lobby chat usually doesn't work
6. Clicking ready when alone in lobby freezes up
Expected: Play against other robot makers online
Reproduce: Always fails, havent got online to work yet.
Minor
Have more keyboard commands and control for bot creator.
1. Have an undo command incase you click wrong
2. Have a copy and paste, letting you copy a single component or a combination of components.
3. Have a way to tell the current rotation of a component and set it manually
Major
Increase motor speed and power
Robots are very slow in this game, and spinning weapons are slower than South Bay Mauler's old spinning disc (refering to the original Mauler that competed at Robot Wars 1995, not its improved version from Battlebots). With such slow motors, the game resembles the original US Robot Wars rather than a modern event - even DragonCon Robot Battles has faster robots.
Spinners in real life are notorious for being incredibly destructive but unstable machines. However, the spinners in the game are more or less lame ducks - you might as well use a good-old hammer robot instead.
Priority: Critical
Summary: When moving or free-spinning parts clip through each other at odd angles, the robot spazzes out.

Steps:
1a. Download this robot from the workshop:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=691847246
1b. Alternatively, build a robot with any extender attatched to any motor or axle, and another non-moving extender near the disk or extender. The robot provided above, however, can reliably replicate this glitch.
2. Open the robot in the bot lab and go to "Test"
3. Ram the robot into the wall. This will cause the disc/extender to be pushed back through the extenders.
Expected Results: the robot remains stable and drivable
Reproductability: Always
Priority: Major
Summary: I went into a tournament, after losing first match (test bot, what of it?) went to results screen. After backing out and going into bot lab, it appeared as though the up arrow key was stuck just flipping through the options.
Expected Results: UI not pretending I was holding down up arrow
Reproductability: Once so far
Priority: Whatever the devs want it to be
Summary: It would be helpful to see regular updates and patches, that way we can give feedback on any tweaks and bugfixs that have been applied to the game. It can be on a once-a-week or once-a-month schedule, or as things are tested. I wouldn't mind seeing the game in early access for longer if it ment that the game would be a lot better on release.
The new layers system for the body of the robot is a really good idea and a massive leap from RA2. There are problems here- as in most places, however. The first is very annoying when you try and re-edit a robot after a match. It seems that the camera coding breaks as it moves itself to the top with nothing you can do about it:( Also sometimes the position of the dot for the body is nowhere near where the mouse cursor is, which can make finding the correct square harder. The paint job thing at the moment is fairly poor because unless it is a flat side, the paint will look wrong - had to stick to plain colours...
Another thing is that none of the motors seem to be powerful enough to make a fast robot or spinner (which btw the game is still sadly aimed at- you firestorm/chaos 2 lovers will be saddened by the same scoring system and the fact that chassis don't seem to be able to get underneath anything.) you have to use 2 of the bestest fastest motors - the z-tek HP - if you want to move quickly and cheating with parts inside of each other is always necessary. You guys need to add the mass classes back in and have a non-competitive over-weight class just for the lols.
In the way of multiplayer, as far as i have heard you can only do 2 player atm? if so then obvs thats something to fix but i have only tried 2 player. It seems you can only use arenas such as soccer pitch and specific robots as well? it is a bit dodgy but i got a few games in while i could.
A problem as with this and the previous robot arena is the fact that if you jnust cover yourself in spikes and ram the oponent you will never lose as you get constant points and they die very quickly. Personally i love flippers and theres very little ways of winning, except immobilising - which is IMPOSSIBLE on the spinner bot ai because it spins back, making that bot easily the best?
The bot cam is a good idea and on my robots have worked a charm and look good if you position well! So actually well done on that!XD However, you guys need to add and orbit view that follows your bot so that you can choose exacly where youre looking as i feel none of them look in the right place atm.
I completed the career tournaments losing 10 and winning 11 (when i found lots of spikes work) and there is now no way of me playing career again? it does not reset or keep score and when you win or lose a tournament it doesn't tell you.
I could be wrong on this but i'm pretty sure theres something slightly off with the armour, im not sure what it is but im sure it's there where steel is just so weak.
On many of the maps there is a pit/somewhere to fall off - but it does not count as losing in many places in you fall in, which clearly is an issue, you can also lose as a bot that got pitted is driving around in there with more points than you.
The damage also looks very strange, it seems to just lower the top layer down a bit and nothing else...
I love the idea of being able to add your bot to the steam workshop, although im not sure whether my internet isn't loading it very well or what and im not sure if my bot got uploaded as well..XD
I tried using a controller to play as it looked like it was set up for it, but apparently not... also in the menus you quite often get a bug where it keeps scrolling down, it doesn't select anything, it is just annoying.
At the moment you have a good starting point, and i wouldn't say it was 90% ready tbh. The original selection of parts is never enormous - i hope modders share my enthusiasm and make parts and things when the game reaching full release. There is actually so much potential in the game and it is very close to reaching it. Despite everything i have said, i like the game and will play it over RA2 in the hope that bugs are flipped out the arena Chaos 2 style and glitches are destroyed Razor style... Keep the update coming and we'll have a great game eventually. I'm going to vote recommend in the hope that things i mentioned are eventually polished off.
