Robot Arena III

Robot Arena III

Robot Arena 2 Vs Robot Arena 3
Hi, I would like to know if Devs are thinking about improving this game a bit...
I just watched 2 video from RA2 and 2 from RA3... And seriously, like many people recommend, game look way better in RA2 and more beautifull.
How is that possible, is there something I missed in those video, is there way more feature in this one or what ?

RA2 has the physics, polish and existing mods, RA3 has the graphics, modding potential and developer support

Well, from what I saw on the 4 video on youtube, Im not sure RA3 got better graphics... Im gonna go watch some more video, but with what you say, it still seems that RA2 is better xD

RA2:
Physics that make flippers viable
EMERGENCY is the big bad heavyweight
"Pseudo real" AI robot designs
A variety of gamemodes, and arenas to play them on
A "League" that gives you some motive to try and play
Never launced in early access

RA3:
Goofy artstyle
Too many arenas that lack hazards
AI that you can beat by sitting still (On the foundry map)
What the heck is up with some of the un-real robot designs?
EMERGENCY'S gone to ♥♥♥♥
Unsatisfying spinners
Has the gravity turned up so much that flipper's appear to be nerfed
2 gamemeodes from what I can tell

There is no doubt in my mind that RA2 looks better to the eye than RA3. Perfectly square boxes need more than textures to make them look good. In RA2 you could apply overlays to your bots to make them prettier and the "smooth" and "dirty" ones were great for making the game not look like a n64 game anymore.

robot arena games are all about the physics behind the designs

ra2s physics engine is miles better than ra3s but the hitpoint system is still somewhat unreallistic in both games

ra2 has deformable robots wich ra3 lacks or ist poorly done so i did not notice it yet

RA2 is free, and has several mods that substansially build on the game.

RA3 has potential, but I dunno >_> <_<

RA3's robot creator is better by a long shot. The fact that you can adjust the chassis and move placed parts alone is a huge boon. Then you have the multi-layered height which is also missing in RA2. You say the physics are bad, but you ignore all the Havok engine glitches in RA2 like the Havok Explosions, which were only ironed out somewhat in the mods. Certainly RA3 didn't live to expectations but the game is far from being terrible IMO.

Can someone point me in the direction of Robot Arena 2?

I've Google of course, but seems a lot of websites come back claiming to have downloads for it, but which one is correct and more importantly SAFE

@Frank: I'd probably remove the link. While the devs are fine with RA2 being downloaded for free, Zoss thought in the past a link or a reference might still be seen as piracy by global moderators. If they were to see it.

I can't say that RA2 is better than RA3. It crashes frequently for me, even by running Compatibility Mode. Seems I've been lied at by the Robot Arena community forums when I was told it runs flawlessly when in reality, RA2 is prone to crashing.

That's real strange, RA2 really does tend to behave. Not saying it won't happen, but not nearly enough to be disappointed to the degree you're suggesting.

Run it in full screen mode. Game works like a dream.

Idk whats going wrong for you then. You're the only person I know who has this problem where it cant be fixed by going full screen. :P The game is far better than Arena 3, just a shame it doesnt seem to work for you really.

Well, it seems that RA2 was designed to crash on me and me alone, no matter what I do.
