Koei Decides to Sue the Chinese Gaming Website:3DMGame.com
Koei Corp Warns 3DMGame.com : "There Will be No Way to Download Romance of the Three Kingdoms 13 for Free Anymore"

This is the official declaration from 3DMGame.com:

Chinese gaming website, 3DMGame.com, has received a warning letter, which was sent by Japanese Koei Corp. The letter claims that Koei owns the copyright and the trademark of “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” sires. Koei says that we request 3DMGame.com to remove all files that related to the sires. Furthermore, they should apologize for what they have done to Koei. In the meantime, Koei will conduct legal means to make 3DMGame.com taking legal obligation. For now, 3DMGame.com has taken off all contents concerning those games. Speaking of apology, we(3DMGame) will listen to lawyer’s instruction, and then decide to do so or not. “Romance of the Three Kingdoms 13” is not yet hit the shelves in China, anyway.

Last year, the usage of Steam Community had been rocketing. Thanks to the game purchases could be done with Chinese Yen directly, more and more people buy genuine copies of Steam games rather than pirated ones. As a celebrated PC gamer community, 3DMGame.com, all we can do is alter our operation strategy and then try our best to create the distribution channel to sell and promote genuine copies of games. All in all, we are willing to accept the warning from Koei Corp. However, there are two things that we are hardly acceptable.

Firstly, there are many game manufacturers provide cheap prices of products in Chinese market. For instance, “Rise of the Tomb Raider” is priced at CNY¥ 145 only. Speaking of that, why the price of Romance of the Three Kingdoms 13 is up to CNY¥ 400? This is totally not affordable for nationals. It truly destroys the market price. We said that before:“ 2 years later, there will be no free PC games for Chinese gamers”. Hopefully, game vendors can finally offer reasonable prices.

Secondly, Why the copyrights of “Records of the Three Kingdoms” (the original history of the Three Kingdoms period), which is written by a writer, Chen Shou, is right in the Japanese hand? We still consider this is our Chinese-based game, and we should do anything we’ve got to get it back.

What’s more, this is a part of an article that translated from 3DMGame forum as follows:
  1. Playing Japanese pirated games is the same as to claim war indemnity, isn't it?
  2. In Chinese New Year, do you give your parents much more money with red envelops than the money you’ve spent on genuine copies?
  3. What do you think of our first aircraft carrier was remodeled from Russian’s ancient one? Don’t you feel furious?
  4. Have you ever felt sorry that you seriously blamed nerds of cracking games?
If you can’t answer all of the above, then you are a F***ING RICH FA**OT!

My only question is why the lawbreaker, 3DMGame, is as mad as a hatter? How could it be like that? That’s creepy weird! What do you think of these matters?

Lol..they must either be the state-sponsored equivalent of TPB...or just children

I'm sorry, what? Playing Japanese pirated games is the same as claiming war indemnities? Are they mad?

As an Oriental, I find this incredibly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dense and stupid. Then again, Japan openly opposes the CCP so I guess the state sponsored ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ artists will say anything to fan the flames.

" For now, 3DMGame.com has taken off all contents concerning those game" So, why I see at 3dmgame forum all stuff need to play for free... and those are Official game threads. Official made by 3dm. Using 'their' host for files.

Hmmm that's cool and all... but.. 3DM already pirated the game and cracked.
You can easily find it in multiple torrent websites.
So Koei is going to sue all the torrent websites as well ?
Koei please.... RTK 13 is so sh*t you guys should be happy that 3DM "wanted" to pirate it.
This game does not deserve anyone attention.
You would have profited more even IF you had released RTK 3 from SNES at steam.

I'm not sure glorifying piracy is the right way to go, but okay. I doubt they'll sue the torrent sites as much just sue 3DM for the purpose of making a point, which is typical corporate policy anyhow.

I'm not glorifying piracy.
I'm just saying that sue 3DM will accomplish nothing , besides since 3DM is a chinese website/group , I doubt they will win.

It accomplishes the goal of sending out a message that they won't tolerate piracy and redistribution of one of their (theoretically) big and newly released titles. It is a rather myopic goal unless they target literally every torrent site that carries the game, admittedly, which would be really, really stupid, though one can see why they do it. They hit one of the more well known sites and force people to look elsewhere for a little while.

Its like the FBI hitting a kiddie-porn site. It accomplishes relatively little and few arrests are made, but they're doing something, I suppose.

The only issue is this. As long as there are people alive who bore witness to what Japan did during WWII, Japan will never be in the right during any kind of claim against a country they so cruelly victimized. Period. It dosn't matter what the claim or dispute is about, they will be in the wrong. They are the evil Satan who massacred millions upon millions of people through gas, plague and torture, so they are the bad guys by default. And it is well earned.
This is not isolated to China. It encompasses every nation victimized by Japan, and they will absolutely never live it down, nor be able to overcome it, untill all who experienced their atrocities first hand have died off.

If you think this sounds overly dramatic, Google the following.
"20 Korean men cut off their fingers in protest of Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi’s decision to visit the Yasukuni Shrine."
And
"Korean man tears apart Japanese flag with teeth to protest Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's visit to the Yasukuni Shrine."
These are not isolated incidences. I will not quote the old soldires I know and have known. Suffice it to say they think the US should have continued dropping nukes until no one was left. Why? Because they were there on the ground. They saw what was being done, and until the first hand accounts stop, the demonization will rightfully continue.

So yeah, a Japanese company crying foul by some little girl from China? All I can do is sigh and tell them maybe they should go console themselves at one of their under age girl's panty sniffing vending machines.
