Crash after clicking start

I'm on Win11 here.
the game always crash after clicking start.
i tried everything.

need some help from you guys

I have a new PC as well with Wins 11. I am going to test it out. I hope it still works.

It works, make sure you play in borderless and make the resolution your screens res. Keep in mind the game isn't new, so probably playing in 4k might be a bad thing.

Did you have OneDrive, if you do try de-sync and uninstall it, i got a problem after i install OneDrive and it redirect my savefile location to another place and the game start crash after launch
Happen both on DW8 and RTK 13 too, almost all Koei Game do.
If it don't work try install a fresh window and then uninstall OneDrive as soon as possile

yeah i did de-sync it but it's still not work

I don't think it's anything to do with us, it's steam or Koei end, it crashes before even the menu window start, not working even if I removed the game completely and reinstalled. but on some day, it works ok.

It's kinda weird.
I can play 14 but can't play 13
Everything was fine when i start the launcher and click low screen, no frame, Hardware mouse and click start game
The program did appear and for 2-3 sec then It's just gone
I try everything tbh
I did delete anti virus, Update graphic driver, update window, Reinstall, Delete save, change region, Delete onedrive, set screen, off movie, Install directx

So did they gave any answer to you? Just bought ROTK XIII and have the same issue. Whatever settings combination I choose, whatever compatibility modes I try on the main exec file, it just starts the launcher and wont start the game itself.

Have you tried setting the cg quality from High to Standard from the system settings at the launcher?

I used to have this crashing issue but setting that option to middle ground solved it for me, might do it for you as well.

Hey, thanks for your suggestion. However, I tried every possible settings change to no avail. You sart the game from steam, it opens the launcher, you click "Start game" button, steam shows that you're in game for couple seconds, then returns to idle state.

If possible, can you try to launch one of .exe files (e.g. San13PK_en.exe) directly and share what it does? I tried to do that, and every .exe, except the launcher and original sangokushi I game just throws an error.

Starting the game directly from the san13PK_en.exe brings up the launcher, just like the san13_en.exe, no difference in between the two, and the game boots up without issues from the Start Game.

My in game settings are as follows, and I experience no errors whatsoever.
OS - W11
Resolution 1280x720
Window - Window
CG Quality - Standard
Movies - High
BGM, SE, Voices - On
Cursor - DirectX(R)

The only possible explanation I can think about is your PC missing out some older Visual C++ runtimes, since those haven't been tried out yet according to the earlier posts made here, I mean, this is fairly old game and some of the latest stuff might not be able to comprehend its inner functions when it comes to the coding side, though I am no expert on that field, could be at least worth to check that out.

You could also check if you have the necessary video codecs installed.

guys I think i fixed it, atleast for me. Try this:

Delete the documents folder in your user profile for ROTTK 13, and reinstall game.
I lost my saves, but it is a small price to pay for being able to play again.
