Triggering the Diao Chan event set as Lu Bu
I am now reaching 195 and Diao Chan just matured, however I can't seem to trigger the Diao Chan event set, even though Lu Bu (myself), Dong Zhuo, Wang Yun and Diao Chan are all officers of the force.

And yes, I play historical.

Is there anyone who know the exact triggers?

i've been wanting to do this as well, want to go up to Lu Bu's death.

According to this Reddit user here are the conditions:

capital moved to Chang'an event has occurred
Luo Yang is vacant or ruled by Dong Zhuo
it is at least January 192 AD
Zhang Yang is a ruler
Dong Zhuo is a ruler
Emperor is held by Dong Zhuo
Lu Bu is not married
Li Ru, Li Su, Niu Fu, Dong Min, Wang Yun, Lu Bu are serving under Dong Zhuo
Diao Chan is undiscovered or serving under Dong Zhuo
player is not Li Ru, Li Su, Niu Fu, Dong Min, or Wang Yun

... I'm a bit confused. The event should play automatically if you have certain settings set. All I can think of is the settings you altered.

Well, it doesn't even though I am playing Historical.

Probably it is because Zhang Yang has been destroyed.
There are conditions to trigerring events like how Baal explained. If any one condition is not met the event will not trigger. Example is if all conditions stated are met but Lu Bu is married. The event will not trigger.

Anyone know the events to trigger Lu Bu's death or know where I can find a place to see the different triggers?
from what i can gather from this list here http://www.gamersky.com/handbook/201602/715878.shtml there isn't an event to trigger Lu Bu's death. The closest is an event of Lu Bu's fleeing that will trigger upon Liu Bei's taking over Xu Zhou. There are however some other events which is dependant on Lu Bu's status.

The event for Liu Bei abandoning Xuzhou has Lu Bu needing to be in control of Xiaopei as one of the conditions.

The event for Guan Yu surrendering to Cao Cao need Lu Bu dead by Cao Cao's hands and his Red Rabbit Horse be taken by Cao Cao, as one of the major conditions.

Thanks, I went to the Lu Bu DlC bookmark and starting their I hope Lu Bu will die since my previous try led to Yuan shu dieing to Sun Ce. I want to see if as Diao Chan i'm offered to Guan Yu by Cao Cao.
You mean historically? Diao Chan was never offered to Guan Yu by Cao Cao. In fact the books never mentioned Diao Chan after Lu Bu spent his last days with her drinking, shortly before he got captured and killed by Cao Cao.

It's mostly mentioned in folk tails some say she died with him, some say she was offered to Guan Yu. Who later killed her to keep the bromance going since they all like the girl. It depends on who you read and what you want to believe. Though most of Diao Chan is fake and based upon an unamed concubine of Dong Zhuo. I just want to see if there was anything mentioned by Koei as easter egg of sorts.

Finally managed to trigger both events, killing Dong Zhuo.

Moved to join Zhang Yang, then captured Puyang and Chenliu by event in Cao Cao's back. All this would be well and good... except that I have next to no Supplies when taking over., So, Liu Bei immediately moves to invade me and I lay defenseless.

No supplies, no deployment possible, so 80,000 soliders remain stuck unable to move.

Some events can be completely skipped if you do enough damage to the right people, whether it's intentional or not. I began a campaign under Sun Jian during the Yellow Turban rebellion, and after the move to Changsa there was a blitz that saw us taking out Liu Biao pretty much instantly, and the result is that Sun Jian lived a very, very, very, very long life, rather than dying almost immediately as the Dong Zhuo coalition ended, I actually had almost unified the country before he finally died, all that remained was a small portion of Cao Cao's land and Yuan Shao's territory, passed down to Yuan Shang. But that also prevented Liu Bei's later triggers, as Liu Biao was gone so he remained in Tao Qian's area, and proved to be a massive pain at some points because he just loves to create coalitions against the poor Sun family.

That being said, it's extremely easy to accidentally knock the timeline out of sync if you are in any way related to the people or kingdoms that are affected by the transitions, as a mere sneeze can throw it all off course. People important to those events can also be killed in a battle and you might not even notice it because that ticker is easy to disregard, and if those people are dead, you shouldn't get any events involving them.

Well said.

That is why I don't fret over event triggers as most things are out of my control when a game starts. Just roleplay the way you want and make your own story.

Event triggers are mostly on point only when they are expected at the start of a particular scenario, for example Liu Bei's 3 visits to Longzhong where conditions are already mostly in place for it to trigger the event. The more you play the more unpredictable the game becomes, mostly due to your input in the game plus of cos AI not being consistent all the time.

Most events are just good nostalgic slide shows which results in change in alliances, someone getting killed, someone getting recruited, troop numbers increasing or decreasing, factions being shuffled around on the map, etc.

When you have played enough of the game you would have look forward to making the game story yours to tell instead of watching events unravel.

Not everyone will agree with me so just play and enjoy the game the way you want.
