Crearing New Characthers
Hey!

As a new ROTK player ( i love it, thou wish there was more events and more interaction inbetween people, like the wife has no special reaction to her husband, and i heard you can have several wives.. and wives can have several husbands?

Anyhow can somone explain the stats LEAD, WAR, INT, GOV and what they exactly do and affect.

Also when you're creating a characther for yourself, is it more entertaining to start out weak, or do you give your own characther alot of stats/abilities?.

what makes for a more interesting gameplay?

Play it the way you want. Ive seen some videos on youtube with people who make all 100's character. But that isnt interesting to me. You can build up your stats while playing anyway.

i agree, but what would you consider normal stats to start with ?

Any exemples, from what is low but dosn't cripple you entirely ( i mean a 20 20 20 20 would never get high to a high position, so what's the ground where you'd recommend starting?)

Hard to say. You just think of what you want to be and you make a character that fits. Or many characters. I created a family of officers. One parent and 4 siblings of different ages and abilities, and then I either make my own force and choose one to control, or I position them in an existing force and pick one to play as.

Ive started my game over several times, each time tweaking something on one or more of those officers. Sometimes I think they might be too strong and I lower their stats. Or I find out their battle strategy doesnt synergize so i change it... and so on.

I also made several average type military officers that I use to boost some other forces that are too weak.

You can still have many mishaps with a ''perfect'' character. I made someone with max stats but everything else I made sure to lower.

Plus, even if you have max stats you still gain stats. I'd just giving someone max stats is more of a good approach for newbies to let them get ahead in the game.

I create my own character 100 for everything. Because I dun want my character to die and I'm up against Lu Bu. I want to win all duels too.

I actually don't create my own officers anymore and instead just enjoy the already present officers in the game.

being 100 in everything sounds incredibly boring and in most cases easy, I mean by all means if you new but part of the fun is using flawed officers and overcomming the issues... at least for me.

the characters have life through their numerical values and play differently because of that.

to actually answer you question though.

most tasks/situations utilize the different attributes and stats

LEAD is leadership which is usually good for battle and training troops
WAR is offensive power, used for patrol and battle, some plots and dueling
INT is for strategists and usually effects plots and recruiting and debating
GOV is for the economics and diplomacy in past tiles it was also good for searching

the game usually lists what stat is needed for the current task and sorts accordingly, this is not a definite list its just to give you an idea.

I've made all sorts of characters... all 65s.. all 100s... and all 1s... my next playthrough will be an Officer Mode game with a general with all 1s... would be a fun game :D

btw it's not as bad as you think to have a character with "1" in all stats... when you build relationships with other characters and gain the "mentor" option.. you get to gain a lot of exp since the difference between your stats and the teacher's stats are so huge.

should be able to level up to mid 50s in all stats on a playthrough.

If you set the settings to 'maximum ability change' it should go up faster also, I think.. I always set it to slowest, because I dont want to be dealing with armys of 100 lead/war generals.

Also, in battle, the thing that seems to matter more than stats is morale.

Any suggestion for a "Average" Leader then.

68 lead, 59 war, 54 Int 43 Gov for instance ?

Thats ok, but just remember that you will be going up against people like cao cao who have lots of high stat officers who will steamroll you. Maybe not that low for a leader. War isnt that important, but you should have higher LEAD and INT and GOV.

This is the stats I use for my war hero RPG officer :

LEAD 84
WAR 94
INT 74
GOV 67

Through task types and mentoring I can raise up any of those stats if I wanted to. The stats by themselves dont have a huge effect. Abilities make the biggest difference.

I also suggest making your general an "archer" spec'ed general.... you lose control of the battle if your personal unit gets destroyed... and archers have an easier time avoiding frontline combat while still contributing.

spears are great for defence too... and cavs have an easier time running away when low on men.
but archers just have the greatest survivability, especially if you are new to the game and not ready for extreme masochism mode yet. :)

My officer is horses with horse training special but only a lvl 4 strategy. I hate waiting so long to use my strategies in battle and the bigger ones seem underwhelming to me when they dont last very long.
Chameleon_Silk Jul 9, 2016 @ 1:35pm
basically Liu Bei's stats would make a great all rounder to start with.
