I believe an English pc version of ROTK 10 was released but only in Asia. If you can find one your a lucky man.
I cannot comment either because I just am starting XIII and I will be playing as a leader.
Just bought the game and having played it for almost an hour I have to say that sadly what you say is true. It looks like they put more attention to the artwork and the voice acting in the game as well as the hero mode which is always nice, but I was mainly looking for gameplay enhancements and features in the main game. In 10 there were activities you could partake in while you weren't set a task to do for the city, such as visiting a bar and getting random odd jobs to do. In 13 theres barely nothing to do when you finished with a task. Except help the odd citizen that sometimes shout out for help.
I remember the days when I first played 10 on the PS2 my brother would always comment on how crap the game looked. And I always told him its not about how the game looks, its how it plays and how it immerses you into the world that counts. 13 seems to reverse this by looking really nice, but at the cost of gameplay.
What Im trying to say is 13 seems to lack a lot of what makes 10 really good. Sadly I will be getting a refund which is unfortunate as I hardly ever refund games, but I feel very disappointed by the seeming lack of gameplay content. Hopefully a PUK will come out with more stand out features. As for now however, sayonara kookaburra.
I fully understand the RPG element thing or lack of events etc for me these are RPG elements that I don't even care about but understand why some want to play it that way. its just I like playing as a ruler.
I like IX and XI style better then I like X and XIII's so to me X isn't even the best in the series... close but I'd rather play IX and XIII over X. 3rd place still isn't that bad.
there may only be 1 route but doesn't where you encounter on the route matter, doesn't terrain still play a role? doesn't food and gold still exist in the game? can't you draft soliders and recruit officers and patrol your city.
the game might not be what we wanted in terms of overall gameplay but cmon its still ROTK, it hasn't lost all its charm.
I'm still looking forward to giving it a deeper look once I get some time.
There are ENglish patches out there that already give you all you need to play the game except for the dialogues
THe game isn't that complicated that it needs fully translated text to understand what's going on
You play as one character
