What can one do with the custom editor (Needed custom editor version 2.0)
Just to give some ideas, and of course share mine with yours, i have to say that custom editor is very useful. Just if it had the choice to create a new kingdom...

Anyway, i have made real story events, but all with choices.
In ROTK 13, you must control the officer playing in a specific event to make a choice.

I spend a looot of time, to create some events in which there are choices, independently of whom you choose to control.
So, at 192-193 (can't recall the exact date) for example, Dong Zhuo's force for example may (or may not depending on the event's chance) be destroyed from the inside, so all of the officers are alive afterwards (and in most cases they join Zhang Lu altogether).

Also, later i made one in which Zhang Xiu takes Kong Zhou's force (unfortunately you have to do this if u start in the warlords scenario and then take the others with him - Jia Xu etc.- and move to Wan.) After this, Cao Cao takes Wan as really happened, and I created another one in which when Hu Che Er haunts him, he decides if he wants to flee with Dian Wei or with Cao Ang-Cao Anmin. The one he decides to flee with, stays alive for the rest of the game.

Another one is that Lu Bu can choose to follow Liu Bei or Cao Cao, this triggers if Cao Cao has take everything except Xia Pi until Aug.198 i think but HAS A CHANCE TO HAPPEN. If this doesn't happen though, story continues, wars happen and in Nov.198, there is a chance again for the death of Lu Bu to happen, as in reality. BUT AGAIN THERE IS A CHANCE. If that also doesn't happen, Lu Bu continues being alive and trying to war with Cao Cao and Liu Bei, which goes out of story and continues to a complete mayhem in Central Plains, which is fun i think.

Also, i implemented some of my thoughs, for example when Lu Bu goes to Xiao Pei, Liu Bei has a choice to accept him stay there or not. If he doesn't do it, Chen Gong throws the idea of all of them to move to Ru Nan. Out of story once again, but an interesting continue of things to happen.
If Liu Bei decides to accept him in Xia Pi, later in 194 i think, at some time, there will trigger another one, in which Liu Bei starts war with Yuan Shu and Lu Bu conspires with Yuan Shu to overthrow Liu Bei as really happened. But now, there is a choice...If LIu Bei goes South to fight Yuan Shu, Lu Bu takes Xia Pi and Langye, leaving Liu Bei with only Xiao Pei as it really happened. But if Liu Bei stays, Yuan Shu goes up with the whole army, pushes Liu Bei back to Langue, and now we have Lu Bu, tricked by Yuan Shu in XiaoPei, Yuan SHu having Shouchun and Guangling AND XiaPi, and Liu Bei around him retreated to Langye, another out of story event with interesting future outcome...

Also, i have created small events, midstory, mainly officer transfer events, THAT TRIGGER THE REAL GAME EVENTS OF CHANGBAN, THREE VISITS AND CHI BI. Liu Biao goes off and small kingdoms appear correctly as it really happens in game!! Even if Lu Bu with his daughter, Chen Gong, etc. etc. now are with Liu Bei!Even if Yan Liang and Wen Chou are now alive! So,the story isn't messed up.

Even in later events, - if all things go accordingly - Guan Yu doesn't slay Yan Liang and Wen Chou, if this happens, laaater when Liu Bei has YAN province and battles with Sun Quan for Jing Province, and Guan Yu's death happens (yes i created one for this WITH A CHOICE),
then Yan Liang and Wen Chou return (from whenever they are) to help Liu Bei and join him, so Liu Bei - my hero - loses Guan Yu but gets Yan Liang and Wen Chou as a result..

I have also created events for the last part of the game, later years when Jing takes the realm, Gaoping Tombs event, for ones that know the story, Sima Yi's fake 'ilness' and then overthrowing of someone i can't remember correctly. And also some events i think with Zhuge Ke, Shouchun rebellion from a Wei officer than deflected to Wu??? I have created a lot that can't remember them correctly.

The only event i cannot implement is the one that Cao Cao moves the emperor to Xu Chang, supposing that i keep Dong Zhuo etc. alive, but i don't think that matters, especially in the story continuity.

But as everything in life, this comes with some throwbacks...
For those events to happen, one assumes logically, and that's the story, that he should play
with the force trend to historical. But that's not the same for the part of wars... When the game decides, there is a big chance that for example Cao Cao will go to fight Ma Teng and that destroys later events in Tong Gate with Ma Chao etc., or Cao Cao will try to subdue Zhang Lu when he reaches there, even i get in a point that he starts fighting with Liu Zhang!!
So, one have to edit some force relations and 'force' the game manually to trigger some events, or one can leave it like this and see how things will unfold, but once again there is a big chance that things will be messed up...

I have spend a lot of very very annoying and tough time to avoid some things like campaigns against a force that were creating, and i had to be veeery careful as to which kingdom takes which city for the events to unfold.
Now i am testing the game and i try to fix any issues that come up, at the same time.

Nevertheless,I think that it's a good style to play if you are into the custom event editor, and it can help you in a lot of ways to have fun with the game. It's like creating the real story, but keeping officers that died alive somehow. One may not want Lu Bu dead when Cao Cao haunts Liu Bei from Chang Ban, or even Dong Zhuo ( u heard that lot people want Dong Bai alive for some reason), or in events of Chi Bi. Imagine having Lu Bu alive, persuading him to rebel in some city, probably in a Sun Quan's one or in a Cao Cao's one thus creating a new force of Lu Bu in 207, and at the same time, having the Chi Bi event happening, while Dong Zhuo is free roaming into China wanting Lu Bu's head for his betrayal back in the days, when he left one night to join Zhang Liang ( the ruler Lu Bu fled when he killed Dong Zhuo in real story)! And at the same time, Yan Liang with Wen Chou are alive and have joined Cao Cao.

I think that custom editor, if was polished a little, would create awesome stories for one to have fun. Unfortunately one cannot create a custom force as to make some amazing stories with Yuan Shao's sons, or move the emperor to have some other events to happen as they happened for the story to unfold without messing something up, but even with his you can create miracles.

I always thought that they would release an update in which the custom editor is 'updated' somehow to a custom editor 2.0 , or even 1.5, but i think that this game is really dead right now and that's a shame in my opinion. I expect and hope that in ROTK 14 (which i hope also that will be released somewhen), they will fix those little things. Once again, i am only speaking about custom editor and not the weak battling AI, or the lack of strategic options (such as raid, raze etc. that existed back in the days of ROTK 9), which i think would return in 14.

I hope you not got tired from this, i just wanted to share my thoughts with you and help some people to use the editor in their view, the point is to have fun after all

You've got some interesting ideas there. Personally, I wanted to make a few events that "clean up" certain problems following normal events, like how Li Jue will still have pretty substantial power for a while following Dong Zhuo's death. What ifs could be fun as well, like what if you had an alternative event where Sun Jian retreated to his homelands instead of marching back to Changsha and survived, or Yuan Shao had a chance to outwit Cao Cao leading up to Guandu and turn the tide. Maybe one could even craft a whole new set of events for some of the ignored forces (like Yuan Shao).

Unfortunately, interest in the game seems too low to make investing the time worthwhile, particularly since as you pointed out, making events can be rather time-consuming.

Yeah, sadly that's true and of course the event editor's limitations add to the limited fun if one can say it so...For example you cannot create new forces via editor and that's a thing.... i think that it has to do with the game code, it 'locks' into specific forces, like if u have noticed, in the conditions section, if Lu Bu takes Zhang Yang's force so that later Liu Bei either accepts him in Xiao Pei or not ( i have made it so), when i created the branch event for Lu Bu-Liu Bei, i had to put to the conditions slot that 'Zhang Yang force' exists, while Zhang Yang is dead and Lu Bu has taken the reign!! So, Lu Bu may have the force, but the NAME YOU PUT IN CONDITIONS FOLLOWS THE FORCE'S COLOUR!

I have noticed all these things after lots and lots of hours dedicating myself there.

This u said with Sun Jian is interesting! But i don't know if it messes up the Yuan Shu's story and moving to Shou Chun

Regarding Yuan Shao, there may be a bunch of possible events that would suit well with his force's progress in history, but to re-create the continiuty of history and for Cao Cao to focus on Liu Bei later so for the Chang Ban event to trigger, unfortunately Yuan Shao should not exist, and that';s an other thing that games messes up...it ties events altogether in chains, which are difficult to break specifically...if u mess something up everything messes up...
As far as i could, i created the Cao Pi event in which he marries his wife and Cao Rui's mother.
If you don't marry them in the CORRECT TIME, Cao Rui will never be born and later in the game, the throne will be taken by the retarted one, who was retarded in real history Cao something!!! Cao Lin i think??? You have to watch eeeevery little detail...

If i could create new forces, i would make interesting things with his sons, but i cannot as i said...

Also i noticed that the game has ignored lots of things that actually happened, i mean look at Zhang Chao...in reality he hadn't a force if i remember correctly and he commited suicide at some point, but there he is as a minor warlord wthout reason :p

Nevertheless, i think that editor should and could leave you alter more things to achieve what you want... I always hoped in a version 2.0 but.....

At least the fun thing is that i don't remember the events i created one year ago, and because it's so many of them, they may happen as they were in game, and appear all of a sudden!! That would enhance the fun i think!! ;)

So this post got me interested in messing around with the editor again. I succeeded in making an event for Sun Jian where he can choose to abandon Changsha to return to his hometown of Wu. Although I didn't finish the dialogue, I'm glad I made the event able to work (for the most part). I also am trying to make an event where your officer can train their children (since the existing system where you train your kids in your base is so lame). I made a basic one off of visiting, but I can already sense that I would just sit around spamming visits endlessly to train them, which would also get boring fast.

Anyway, I have a few questions!

1. In the Sun Jian event, I currently have it set to fire only when playing Sun Jian. This is fine because I put a branch in the event, but I was wondering how I can make it so the event will fire no matter who I play, without forcing me to make the choice. While it is fun to have Liu Zhou determine Sun Jian's fate, I just want to know how to make the AI pick something and run the event without any outside interference, because I might want to make an event later that has that sort of situation (like Han Fu surrendering to Yuan Shao, for example).

2. Also, in my Sun Jian event, I just assigned Changsha to Liu Biao, which is fine, but is there a way to make the city be fully abandoned?

3. For the training your children event, I'm trying to set it in a way that it has a chance of firing, but only *passively*. So like I am in my home city, my kid is also there, and then on a certain day each month (or any other passive condition), the event has a chance of firing without me actively doing anything (like visiting). I tried selecting "Main Base" for the event category, but it didn't do anything. And while I got the cast set properly for *visits*, I can't seem to set up the second cast member as my child in other event categories.

Any responses or answers are appreciated!

Edit - OK I made some progress with #3, although not in the way that I want. I set the category to "Date Change" and, with 10000/10000 chance of firing, it triggers as each day passes. But I can only set it to work with bond officers for now, not specifically my main character's children, and obviously I need to tweak the chance part to something more reasonable. (Fun "fact", I guess setting it to 1/10000 means it'll happen like once every 27 years?!?)

It's a great idea to try and save Sun Jian but doesn't this mess up with Yuan Shu's later events? (moving to Shou Chun, declaring himself emperor etc.)???? I haven't tried it yet, but it's a great idea saving one of the greatest officers in ROTK>

Also, it would be much interesting to create some later game events, i think that the custom editor was created for something like this.

As you know in the later game when late officers were alive some of them being great ones (like Deng Ai, Jiang Wei etc. etc.) there aren't a lot of events in the game. I think that it would be great of someone reffering some of those that can be recreated in game, it would be like having a completely new game created by Koei, given the fact that officers are there and appearing normally as they would.
In Dynasty warriors (Jin's path) i think that there are lots of events to create but i don't know if they would be interesting to implement in a game such ROTK. I mean if you have to create a big story just to lower a city's defenses...what would be the point in that? I mean stories that had an impact, that can be branched and change the whole story from the point and so on...

But again, the fact that u can't create kingdoms via editor and you cannot make tremendous changes, such as moving a force and leaving the city free etc. it holds it and us back...

The Sun Jian event messes up the Yuan Shu Kuangting event, yeah. But since I have Sun Jian move to Wu, I am not sure if that is because of the move, or Wu not being absorbed. I would have to pick another city to test that out.

I am still trying to get my "train your kids" event to work. At the moment it actually includes all officers you have 100 rapport with - so wives, kids, and major bond officers - but I set it only to trigger for those who have less than 75 Int or War. I made two separate events 50% chance set for each event) with branches to cover all stat experience increase possibilities, and it only triggers when you are at your main base, on a specific day of the month. However, at the moment, either both events trigger on that day, or neither triggers, and the same officer gets chosen for both events most of the time, if not all. So the event is still basically a failure for now, unless I make one event with two branches that each give multiple experience boosts. Kind of annoying that whatever seed decides if both events trigger on the day also sets the same officer for them...

I got bored of messing around with that so started making a battle of Yangcheng event where Gongsun Yue dies and the Yuans form some alliances. But the really weird thing there is that Sun Jian dies in 190 in the game, but is still around and plays a role in Yangcheng. I set Yangcheng for January 191 so that Kuangting fires the next month, but I also was trying to insert an event where Yuan Shao absorbs Han Fu, and now the timing of it all is mixed up in my head. It would be a piece of cake to fix if we could edit the otiginal events...-_-

Can't you make Yuan Shu to move to Shou Chun?? Create this event by yourself! I have created such ones by copying the originals, just to make branches which the originals don't have. But you are absolutely right. The fact that it won't let us edit the original events and just copy them.... terrible.

Haven't really tried to do 'everyday' events or 'visit tavern' events etc.
I think that they can be used as a 'event with a chance for something to happen' mainly for raising your officer stats, or relationships etc., you know small things... But that would be also interesting, i found somewhere and downloaded an event from someone which triggers when you visit your home and trains your war stat exp i think by +50?? But it has a chance to happen i think 2500/10.000 or something like that. I think that those also are great to have fun, but i personally prefer to go and do things i want by myself, apart from t he story events in which i choose the result.

It is not something to insert an event in the midst of someone else, if i understand correctly what you want to do with Gongsun. If you want explain me, it's good that i have find an other one who mixes up his mind the same way as I have been with the custom editor hahahaha!!!
