What i would do is get an alliance with Yuan Shao To keep him away from me, then i start Going for Ma Teng, after that start going south west. And then i start focusing military upgrades when Ma Teng is out of the picture, then go for Yuan Shao after you have 3rd Tier Weapons. The rest should be easy enough.

P.S Remember to get elephants, that should make things go even faster

your real threats are Cao Cao and Yuan Shao, so ally with one of them to destroy the other. After that things should be easy.

ya both you guys are summing up the picture pretty well, Cao Cao seems to be the best choice seeing as he controls little territory at start, yuan shao is pretty massive at 10 cities in my game now so im going for him.

gonna try to ceasefire Liu Biao and Liu Bei and strike Yuan Shao since hes on the move conquering territory I fear that if i wait and not strike a blow to him that he will snowball... have to hope Cao Cao decides to go for someone more minor... maybe my might will keep him from targeting me.

if anyone knows how to follow the historic line feel free to post I'm also very much interested in the events that can occur if you play things "properly"

this threads has some events listed http://steamcommunity.com/app/363150/discussions/0/1473096694450490284/

if you play historical, both Lu Bu and Cao Cao will always fight each other. Since you play as Lu Bu, you don't have to worry about him pulling crazy stunts so just send someone to ally with Cao Cao.

In my case i have to pray hard that those 2 don't destroy themselves with Yuan Shao on the border. Thankfully i get appointed to war minister quick enough and use my privilege to establish an alliance with Cao Cao (he was in a camp and has no advisor with him to hinder my plan so you can say that i'm very lucky). Yuan Shao is tough but he doesn't live long so that's another advantage for you. If you can't beat him, just hold his troops until he dies.

With events on as Lu Bu, your best points to hop off the event train are actually either right where this scenario starts, because otherwise Cao Cao will reclaim your cities, or just ride them through until Lu Bu has Xu. Once you have Xu that's it for Lu Bu.

The question is, if you play historically, and you are a minister or a simple officer under Lu Bu, will he force you in a fight with Cao Cao that will inevitably lead to the event in which he dies, so the force will be disbanded and then you will be free? How can you prevent that from happen when you are an officer under Lu Bu?

turn off events? if you wish to break history sounds like you would need to be a ruler or sabotage/influence the battle by losing or something.

during my play as a low ranking officer, Lu Bu by his own decision and power destroys Liu Bei very quickly. I think that's already enough to change the history. I play on the hardest AI, the rests are normal setting. Oh, and it was before PUK

I thought that if you play certain officers in a scenario where they die the event just doesn’t happen? So if you played Lu Bu, Gao Shun or Xu Rong I think then Lu Bu’s death event wouldn’t trigger?

Also I would be allying with Yuan Shao from the start and expand west and east to cut him off from expanding more while you take the rest then once you are strong enough I would be going for Yuan Shao from there it should be plain sailing.

I thought there was seperate setting to control killing of officers... not 100 percent clear on this but I know I have died to events when playing as a ruler and have to select a heir since i had lifespan on historical at least I'm assuming this is the cause.

If I remember correctly, the trigger for Lu Bu to get killed by Cao Cao (regardless of the military position) is for him to hold a particular city (Pu Yang, if I'm not mistaken). In a game I was playing, Lu Bu lasted a very long time and grew to be bigger than Cao Cao. Cao Cao owned Pu Yang, though, and so the event never triggered. All of a sudden Lu Bu retook Pu Yang and got wiped out via event.

If possible, try to lose Pu Yang, and never retake it until Cao Cao's force is destroyed - that should save Lu Bu.

I won serving under Lu Bu in the same scenario as a free officer. If you wipe out Liu Bei immediately after the event causes him to be relocated to Qiao and then play really aggressively it should be a pretty straighforward game if you are playing as Lu Bu. This is probably doubly true since you can simply opt to not use his ordinance that gives a domestics negative -- Although it can be extremely good in the right context.
