Scenario with Cao Pi as ruler
Are there any scenarios which start with Cao Pi as the ruler of Wei, or even just as ruler of Cao Cao's force prior to taking the throne? The scenarios I have jump straight from Cao Cao to Cao Rui. I wanted to play a merchant game with Cao Zhi, walking away from the Cao force disillusioned with politics, and bringing along a few friends, but the best time for him to do that would be during Cao Pi's reign. I can't quite bring myself to make him abandon his father.

Just start a game with whichever scenario you want, and create an event with chance = GAME BEGIN, replacing Cao Cao with Cao Pi, but I think this can be done only if Cao Cao dies in this event, so for Cao Pi to take the Wei rulership

The free DLC scenario War God Surrounded starts in 219 close to Cao Cao’s death, so after he dies as Cao Zhi you can just become a free officer and roleplay from there if you are unsure how to use the event editor.

Start from the War God Surrounded scenario with the Death of Cao Cao custom event active (it's a free DLC).

The Five Path Invasion scenario - also DLC but I dunno about free - is set in 223 and Cao Pi is ruler.

Thanks for the advice. Do I need to do anything to enable the event, or it'll automatically work if I just download it?

The 5 Paths Invasion is a paid DLC. And yes, you need to activate the event before it'll work.

Edit: Yeap, it is not free.

Thanks again - I think that scenario looks good too!

How do I get the new events to work? The instructions say :-

In "EDIT EVENTS" select "Create Event/Change Event" and proceed to "Copy Sample Event" to choose one of the scenarios listed above.
After this you will be able to use "Restrict Event" to apply it to the main game, or use "Change Event" to edit the details.

However, when I go to Edit Events, the only event available is the Sample Event 1. Did the new events all unzip to the wrong directory or something?

Huarong road scenario... 3 of CC's son vying for the throne. Guan Yu kills CC when he was fleeing from Chibi. Control Cao Zhi force, at start of game form your required bonds and surrender to Cao Pi. Then abandon force using Cao Zhi to start as a merchant. Cao Pi will obliterate Cao Zhang forming Wei dominated by Cao Pi. For this scenario, Cao family will not be receiving titles like other force.
If you like challenge, start a force near your merchant ending to conquer China.

I just checked the PSN store and didn’t see anything but it would probably be better to check your PS4 shop via the games DLC option to see if they are available in your region.

Thanks, Guishen - that's another great option! I didn't know we could surrender to a force voluntarily, but I guess since we're playing as a hero and not a force, our game can continue even if our force is wiped out...

Yeap. The only game over situations are Year 350 or you have no successor after your character dies.

I think its great that if your force gets wiped out you can server the person who defated you assuming you aren’t executed and agree to join the game will go on unless you were executed and have no successor. Remember successor is any blood relation (parent, a sibling or child), a sworn sibling or your spouse and anyone with a special bond Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang’s fish out of water for example

If you want to speed up a scenario, you can play as ruler and wipe out all force except 1. Then surrender to this force and you will have scenario cleared.
CC is a person that is always wary of others, including his son. He has no trust in anyone, only believes in himself though during his death bed he instructs Sima Yi to guide Cao Pi. Then ask Cao Pi to use Sima Yi and dispose of him later. I don't think he would ask Sima Yi to guide, if he thinks highly of Cao Pi.
He doesn't value family ties either, if you use Cao Zhi to abandon him there's nothing wrong with it you are doing him a great favour. CC has a fetish for marrying widow from enemies he slain. That's roughly the kind of person he is. Just choose a scenario you like and make Cao Zhi dump his dad.

I started the scenario okay, and it all worked out nicely. It took Zhi some time to get bonds up with Yang Xiu (who is supposed to be his tutor) and Deng Ai (who just has excellent stats yet is low-ranked enough to become his Comrade) before Cao Cao died. Cao Pi took over, and within a couple of months moved Zhi's Governorship from Changan to Tianshui. I took that as a banishment to the distant regions, and turned it down. Cao Pi then moved into Changan with Zhi, probably to keep an eye on his brother. At the turn of the year Zhi had Yang Xiu, Deng Ai and his sister Cao Jie as Comrades, and Cao Pi usurped the throne and became Emperor. Zhi got really upset (especially as Emperor Xian was his brother-in-law after all) and chose that moment to walk out. It would have been a good time for Jie to walk out as well and join him, but something odd happened....

Deng Ai was the only Comrade who became Free Officers with Zhi. Both Yang Xiu and Cao Jie remained as Wei officers, although both could still be moblised to work as comrades and do stuff for Zhi's business - in fact, all three Comrades appear in Zhi's house. I thought maybe they were Comrades who worked part-time (because they still did normal Wei officer duties), but then when I moved shop to Jiangling it all went wrong. I expected only Deng Ai to follow me there, but Yang Xiu and Cao Jie followed me too, and in Jiangling, a Sun Quan-controlled city, both Yang Xiu and Cao Jie were Sun Quan's officers, and did Wu missions for him. I suspect it's a bug, and they were both either supposed to cut off my Comradeship when I resigned, or they were supposed to resign properly.

On a side note, I can understand why Cao Jie would refuse to resign - after all, she has more family to worry about - Pi, Zhang and Yu, as well as mother are all still in the Wei faction, but I can't understand why Yang Xiu would remain loyal to Cao Pi. It can't be because his dad is still a Wei officer - I used the editor to make Yang Biao my comrade too, and Yang Biao followed me out, leaving Yang Xiu still in Cao Pi's service.

Anyway, the officer thing is probably not going to be game-breaking, since Yang Xiu and Cao Jie will still both function as perfectly normal Comrades, but it's just odd that they would be, effectively, officers of whatever faction owns the city I'm operating in.
