How to play as Zhao Yun in the YTR?
I thought it was his age, but then I went to the character creating page and saw that he's supposed to be 17 by the time the YTR starts, so he should be playable? Any idea how to play as him in this scenario?
Cheers!

:(

He comes of age in 187 normally, if you want to play him in YTR you would have to install Van's Editor...

Oh really! How weird. Cause I went to the edit historical officer page thinking I might edit his stating appearance. The window says he's born in 168 and 17 years of age during the YTR. Pang De appears in YTR as a 15 year old brat, but Zhao Yun is deemed to young?:P

Yeah I know. They even have that PUK training scenario where Zhao Yun is available, but alas.

An officer's starting year isn't determined by a fixed age, but what age a scenario marks them as active. Fan Shi, for example, only comes of age in her early 20s - so even if she's technically of age in earlier scenarios she won't appear until she reaches that trigger age.

Historically, during this era, men are considered adults at the age of 20 after they undergo the "guan"("head piece") ritual. The equivalent ritual for women is the "ji" ("hairpin") ritual at the age of 15. In-game, some characters are usable by the player at a younger age, but as AI, they enter the scenario at an older age. In 190 A.D., the player can use Diao Chan at the age of 15, but as AI, she doesn't enter the game until 20.

If you really want to play as Zhao Yun in YTR, you can do the following:

STEP 1
1) Download the files at this link: http://steamcommunity.com/app/363150/discussions/0/1290691308585637161/
2) Run the file san13editorpk_en
3) Under File, select "Open Base Scenario", and then under Edit, select "Historical Officer"
4) Ctrl+F "Zhao Yun" and double-click on him
5) In the "Comes of Age" field, change the number from 187 to 184, save

STEP 2
1) Under File, select "Open Scenario", then pick "Yellow Turban Rebellion" from the "Select Scenario" drop-down menu and click OK
2) Under File, select "Open Base Scenario", and then under Edit, select "Historical Officer"
3) Ctrl+F "Zhao Yun" and double-click on him
4) In the "Status" field's drop-down menu, select "Undiscovered", save

Then he will be available for you to play as in the 184 scenario. It's less complicated than it sounds in these instructions.

Cheers for the replies guys. Thanks Zyzyfer for the very detailed explanation! I've downloaed the editor and went by all the steps, but I think I'm missing something. After saving the edits, am I supposed to use the edit file and replace it with something else in my koei folder?

Edit: Scratch that, somehow the first time I opened the game he didn't appear, but now he does? Or maybe I just noobed out don't know. Either way, huge thanks!
