They even marked him with "unnatural death", so they definitely used the novel version of the events.
Still, my point is that both him and Ding Yi (along with other officers) don't appear outside the two extra scenarios.
For example, extending the life of Zhang Jiao won't make him appear in any scenario after the YTR one because he just isn't in the pool of officers those scenarios deploy.
Beside that, Cao Xiong's lifespan is already correct, he just isn't in ANY scenario.
So in the end I gave up and just resorted to remaking the character in edit mode (with the same birth/death dates, family, stats, and character portrait) so that way I could forcibly place the "edit" character into whichever scenario I was playing, so that way it could trigger my event. I did the same for non-officer characters too like Emperor Xian, Sima Hui, and Hua Tuo.
