I hate debates in PUK
Even if I managed to beat Guo Jia with a 60 int officer, I still hate it. t's almost pure luck.

You take the round's subject, your choice beats 5 out of 6 of the enemy's replies... and he takes the only one that makes you fail. Then it's snowball effect. And that's how I lose against peasants with a 80 int + orator officer.

There's some sort of snowball effect with the first couple of replies, but the results are actually far from random.
Both the duel and debates follow a restricted set of patterns you can learn and oppose with a near 100% success rate (it's really a big issue in my opinion, especially if you have to challenge the same opponent multiple times in a row and you're easily able to read his moves).
Also, the Orator skill is usually way more important than the actual INT points, having at least one Orator point saves you a lot of troubles with generic officers.

If you want to win all the time if your officer has higher int then might as well don't play debates? Might as well remove the whole debate and make it autoresolve, higher int and orator lets you win all the time. Geez.

Can you be, uhm, a little more friendly, please ? Or don't answer at all ? Geez !
I'm playing as a trader and I'm getting debates everytime, I can't avoid it. Unlike ROTK XI, it seems we can't always make it autoresolve, or I don't remember how, as I didn't play for like 6 months until the PUK came out.

Motrini -> Yes I gained Orator lv. 1 and it's already life changing. But I do not know yet how to deal with their answers, because they don't always choose the round's subject (moral, lore...).

I don't mind debates. I hate playing as a pure military officer and getting forced into debates though. At what point wouldn't I simply be like..."yanno,I hear what you're saying but uh...I'm Lu Bu fool. " and chop this random fools head off. I mean, I was simply hurrying back to my city with my is that a turtle or a rock intellect, there's no reason to stop and have a debate with some unknown jackwagon along the way.

You can do that. You can choose the option "shout and run past him" or something to skip those random encounter debates.

It's not always there. There are plenty of times when I'm forced into debate either while traveling or while sitting in my city as Lu Bu. In the city it's usually with some 70-80 INT crooked merchant, but the event fires auto and there's nothing to do but debate and lose

Yup, that's exactly why I hate debates in PUK, more than in the original game. (I still found debates annoying back then though)

It's not really all luck, it's a weighted system, though sometimes luck will kill you. That said, the debates do suck for a different reason. WHY OH WHY is it EVERY SINGLE WAR COUNCIL, someone will argue with you? EVERY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ TIME. It gets old IMMEDIATELY. When you have 97 INT and some 50 INT dork keeps arguing with you and coming up with INSANE tactics in war, it gets really annoying REALLY fast. Wouldn't be so bad if there was a good reason for it, but when someone constantly argues with a highly successful strategist, you wanna just turn off the game. It's even worse when luck goes super bad and you lose the debate, which costs you the entire war and causes your force to get completely wiped out (which just happened to me). Law of averages says that having so many debates you will eventually lose one, and losing JUST ONE DEBATE can mean the end of the entire force you work for. In my case, Tian Yu kept arguing with me in war working for Gongsun Zan against Yuan Shao. And though I won dozens of battles with my tactics and kept Gongsun Zan alive WAY longer than anyone could normally do, Tian Yu kept arguing with me, just now beat me, and cost us literally everything. I ended up telling Gongsun Zan to find someone else to command if he's not gonna listen to me. And yes, this caused the end of Gongsun Zan's force, all because Tian Yu had to argue with me dozens of times and eventually beat me in one debate. In other words, the AI is still the worst in all gaming. I honestly think this is my last Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Their inability to make even a BASIC AI is maddening, and there are better games like Crusader Kings 2 and Europa Universalis 4 out there, or even freaking Dynasty Warriors Empires which somehow has better AI than the strategy game. At the very least, playing as an officer is still akin to pulling out your own teeth sober.

I hate debates on the foreign army's ground as they get the advantage which... makes it harder.. I have lost debates to 60 int advisors .. whilst I'm an orator 9 106 int
