Best and Worst weapon type ?

So what your guys opinion on the best and worst weapon type ?

For me the best is Long sword and Naginata. (Rifles are kind cool too)
Worst are Bow and Spear.

I actually enjoy all the types i've used, and the ones i haven't really used yet are the club and gauntlets...

but atleast i know my favorites are knives and naginata.

The only real bad ones are Naginata due to lack of damage and Rifle bullets that aren't SNP or SCT (PRC and EXP are barely passable).

Everything else is well balanced but some may need a good build to keep up with the others

I wouldn't say there's a best all around. All can be enjoyable when used right. If you like high paced reaction and hacknslash, the Nagitana is fun, but can suffer from damage lack.

The katana is fun, but it suffers from a glitch online with more people, and it's best use demands stamina like crazy (most weapons do).

The spear is really fun being able to stop monsters dead in their tracks with the brace (which works against more than just charges) and it's damage is actually pretty decent with good elementals to pick from for each type, containing a good crit ratio. It's also the weapon with the easiest stamina management. But it suffers from the fact that not all monsters charge.

The bow surprisingly can dish out a ton of damage when used right with a fervor-crit build with the cursed arrow + arrow rain. But it can get boring that many of the other normal shots from it are useless for damage.


The Rifle can really come out on top for the person who does not want to constantly get hit. Sniper bullets + fervor + spirit sniper mode is really powerful, and it combined with the attack skill carnage martyr, it can kill a base level man hunter in a total of 6-7 shots. It also has good elemental-crit guns to choose from.
However, Sniper shots are basically the best shot to use most of the time. So the rest of the shots are basically useless, making a long list of weapons that have good stats, but lack good bullets to best utilize those stats.

Naginata is a good weapon with a good frenzy build.... There was a post on gamefaqs about a build like that , that could kill ultimate monsters very fast
