ERROR: Project folder could not be created

I bought this after they claimed that the major bugs had just been fixed. Opened the engine, and started on first project. I get the error message "Project folder could not be created." VX ACe never gave me problems....

I solved it myself....but I should not had to create the actual folder "RPG Maker 2003" in Documents myself.

ohhhhh right. yes, it should have created it for you, but I missed that part (the Steam version doesn't use the same installation process as the independent one which isn't released yet). Will be fixed asap.

@all: Until this is fixed: If you get this error, you have to click the "..." button in "new project" and select an existing folder, or create an "RPG Maker 2003" folder in "My Documents"! Sorry!

This should have been fixed in a quick update a few minutes ago.

It still isn't fixed but the error is really not that big of a deal, it will take you all of 2 seconds to fix it, just select your own folder or create a "RPG Maker 2003" folder in your documents folder.

Really? That's weird, did you get an update through steam in the last 24 hours?

EDIT: Indeed, the file in question is not updated in Steam. I'll have it checked.
EDIT2: And yes, while it is easy fix once you know what's the problem, it is probably still a big issue for users who just purchased RM2k3, try to create a project and can't, without a clear indication why. Not everybody will immediately realize that a certain folder has to be created.

Did you eate an "RPG Maker 2003" folder in "My Documents"?

Just installed it again today, on an external drive, same error 8 years later :/.
The folder already exists, created January 2022, but looks like Rm2k3 can't detect it.

I got it. It was looking for the previous folder rather than resetting to the default path. Leaving this post in case it happens to someone else who reinstalls.
