New RPG Maker coming this Year?
I seen on the Video after 5 seconds on the Time line something like RPG Maker just without the ending coming this Year in June/July. So are we really getting a new RPG Maker? I really want to know this because i'm a big fan of the RPG Maker Franchises since 2005.

I doubt it, unless they start doing a PR push next month. You normally hear about the next RPG Maker 3-6 months in advance. While it has been a while since Ace (time flies) it is time for a new Maker but that seems a bit too soon for how quiet its been.

Maybe it's a mixture between RPG Maker XP/VX Ace?

I'd like a 3D RPG Maker.

I just saw the trailer. Indeed there is a new RPG Maker on the timeline. Cool.

There actually was a 3D RPG Maker not published by the same company. It never really got a translation effort and was apparently a real pain to use. However, I'd love for a 3D engine that let you build RPG's with simple Vandal Hears/BoF3 style graphics. Basically just blocks and slopes with sprites for everything else.

I've been using RPG Maker since the 1995 version (the first PC version I think). I think I've used every version at some point, but I've never actually finished a game that wasn't a joke. My problem is that I always try to make my own tilesets and character sprites, and I just utterly burn out on all the work and go do something else.

@Cluey Is that the 3D maker that is on the PSN network?

I don't mind another 2D one myself. But there are some things i wish they would do.
Fix the auto tile set up for one, as the way Auto tiles are made in XP was better, hell even auto tiles in 2003 are better. You can make a more organic looking map(less blocky basically).

Ace i feel was made as an early Dragon Quest clone, because the 8 and 16 bit ones had this odd squared look to the grass tiles and so forth.

I would also love it if it was easier to make monsters animate.
There is no telling what the next maker will be like... As EB is bad about often times adding something great, then removing it later or replacing it with something a little more annoying.(to me anyhow)

I also get sick of having to have others make scripts for newer RPG Makers for battle systems and such and then going "not for commercial use" ugh!
We would not need their damn scripts if there was something better implimented into the software it's self to make more types of battle systems.

We won't know till it's offically announced.
Maybe they did not think we would notice it on that timeline in the video?
But it's as plain as day if you pause it at just the right moment, it's sitting right there between 2015 and 2016.

Maybe they will go back to the date naming?
Actually a better idea would just be to switch to a numbering scheme kinda like sony does with playstations or MS does with windows now days.

RPG Maker 7!(because it would be the 7th one for PC released)
How much you want to bet that the next RPG Maker will be a lot more costly?

I have this feeling it's going to be over 100$ for the next one, but as long as it has the features and options i would want, i won't aruge with the price.
Though i expect most would sadly.
Depends if you can port your game to more than windows.
Would be nice to port to Linux and Mac as well, and even smart phones.
Maybe even consoles.
A man can dream!

I tried going to the official Japanese website ( tkool.jp ) to see if there had been anything announced/teased over there, but I didn't find anything. :/

I would not mind to see an engine support both styles. After FF III on Steam, I could see making a game like that as it still retains its roots.

Very true.
There is no telling.
Maybe they put it in the timeline on that video as a means to get people hyped, get people talking.. build curiosity.

I think they will still stick with 2D and go for a some kind of support with smartphones, I think. I mean, RPG Maker is developed in Japan, and the PC (and alike tablets) market is being furiously eaten by the smarthphone (and alike tablets) market over there, so I'll guess that Enterbrain will not ignore this for a new RPG Maker.

That's what i was thinking.

Careful what you wish for.

3D is a whole other medium, and due to the way models and skeletons are handled, isn't ideal for a maker that is designed to be user friendly. RPGmaker is built on simply exporting and importing sprites to a library. Making models, their meshes, etc. is a considerably lengthier process, and I just don't see it happening.

Have you ever worked with 3D modelling and texturing? No? Then no, believe me, you don't want that.

Bit of Trivia I heard about this, handhelds and mobiles are very popular in gaming because people like me (who are at home more than half the day) are incredibly rare, the work ethic in Japan is astonishing, so mobile devices are very popular for chilling out while in the crowded train waiting for your stop.

Trailers are made by Humans. Find out who created it and you can ask him if:
The Creator had just implemented the ? Maker himself as reference for upcoming
rpg makers. Without knowing of one coming in near Future.

:)
