It's possible with Scripts but i don't know if that exist for RPG Maker VX Ace.
There actually was a 3D RPG Maker not published by the same company. It never really got a translation effort and was apparently a real pain to use. However, I'd love for a 3D engine that let you build RPG's with simple Vandal Hears/BoF3 style graphics. Basically just blocks and slopes with sprites for everything else.
I've been using RPG Maker since the 1995 version (the first PC version I think). I think I've used every version at some point, but I've never actually finished a game that wasn't a joke. My problem is that I always try to make my own tilesets and character sprites, and I just utterly burn out on all the work and go do something else.
Fix the auto tile set up for one, as the way Auto tiles are made in XP was better, hell even auto tiles in 2003 are better. You can make a more organic looking map(less blocky basically).
Ace i feel was made as an early Dragon Quest clone, because the 8 and 16 bit ones had this odd squared look to the grass tiles and so forth.
I would also love it if it was easier to make monsters animate.
There is no telling what the next maker will be like... As EB is bad about often times adding something great, then removing it later or replacing it with something a little more annoying.(to me anyhow)
I also get sick of having to have others make scripts for newer RPG Makers for battle systems and such and then going "not for commercial use" ugh!
We would not need their damn scripts if there was something better implimented into the software it's self to make more types of battle systems.
We won't know till it's offically announced.
Maybe they did not think we would notice it on that timeline in the video?
But it's as plain as day if you pause it at just the right moment, it's sitting right there between 2015 and 2016.
Maybe they will go back to the date naming?
Actually a better idea would just be to switch to a numbering scheme kinda like sony does with playstations or MS does with windows now days.
RPG Maker 7!(because it would be the 7th one for PC released)
How much you want to bet that the next RPG Maker will be a lot more costly?
I have this feeling it's going to be over 100$ for the next one, but as long as it has the features and options i would want, i won't aruge with the price.
Though i expect most would sadly.
Depends if you can port your game to more than windows.
Would be nice to port to Linux and Mac as well, and even smart phones.
Maybe even consoles.
A man can dream!
There is no telling.
Maybe they put it in the timeline on that video as a means to get people hyped, get people talking.. build curiosity.
3D is a whole other medium, and due to the way models and skeletons are handled, isn't ideal for a maker that is designed to be user friendly. RPGmaker is built on simply exporting and importing sprites to a library. Making models, their meshes, etc. is a considerably lengthier process, and I just don't see it happening.
Have you ever worked with 3D modelling and texturing? No? Then no, believe me, you don't want that.
Bit of Trivia I heard about this, handhelds and mobiles are very popular in gaming because people like me (who are at home more than half the day) are incredibly rare, the work ethic in Japan is astonishing, so mobile devices are very popular for chilling out while in the crowded train waiting for your stop.
The Creator had just implemented the ? Maker himself as reference for upcoming
rpg makers. Without knowing of one coming in near Future.
:)
