Transparency Issues
I finally tried making a custom tileset for the rpg I've been working on. Opened the default tileset in Paint dot net, I only changed three animated water tiles, and tried importing it back. When I load up the game now, the transparency color will not go away, and is covering everything in the upper layer. I selected the magenta color for transparency when importing too. Am I just overlooking something obvious?

When you clicked it in the import tool, did all of the magenta start flashing or just some of it?
You didn't save as a Jpg right?

I clicked the magenta and all of it was flashing.
It was saved as a .png

Alrighty, and everything is pink? Or is it just that the transparecy isn't working?

Because if it's everything then that's probably because you have sett the passability of the tile to something else than the star.

Just double checked. The transparency tile on the upper layer still has a star set for the passability.
To be more specific, almost everything is pink. The only exception is the entryway tiles on the upper layer. Those appear fine, but nothing else does.

Well it really seems as if you edited the file again after importing. Make sure to reimport it (you can select it even from the game's own resources folder) and make sure the pink is flashing.
I think I have an unrelated issue, when I'm making a sprite in photoshop Layer 1 is the sprite, solid colors 0 opacity, Layer 2 is white, I merge down and remove background just to be safe. I've saved it as a png, paste it into the charset, it gains transparency and sprite has hints of green to it. If I try to make my own custom PNG charset, I get unsupported PNG from RPG maker2k3... Whats wrong? Also is there an easier way to make sprites? I feel like the photoshop brushes have to much flow for 1pixel space. I am a noob. :8bitheart:

I figured it out
It had to do with the quantization algorithm I was using to export the tilesets.
Thank you for the help anyway!

Hey! I'm having same issue, I assume by quantization algorithm your talking about compressing image to 8-bit color depth. What did u end up doing to fix this?
I can vouch for the tool IrfanView doing a good job both with reducing color depth and allowing selection of transparent color during saving.
