and when i launch it it says it cant load the png
Probably because you imported it with a wrong colour depth. Max colour depth a charset can have is 256 bits. You'll have to change it using Ifranview.

Either that or you are missing a charset. Try changing the NPC look and see if your charset appears there.
Small correction: all graphics in RM2k3 are limited to 256 colours = 8-bit colour depth. Size restrictions vary with resource type (see the Help file, under Material References > Resource Specification). Charsets should always be a fixed size, which might be your problem if the colour depth is fine.

This sort of thing is why you are encouraged to use the Resource Manager (accessed via the menu: Tools > Resource Manager), which prohibits importing files in an invalid format.

what is Ifranview

I Googled it and found this: Irfanview[www.irfanview.com]; free for non-commercial use.

I've used MS Paint (save as 256-colour bitmap), but the results are nothing special. I don't know how Irfanview handles that sort of conversion.

Ok i think ill just stick with MS paint
Funny thing is, I have a friend who converts any file for me that I don't see fit from it's BMP mode to PNG.

If you had enough skill in Photoshop, you can change the color depth pretty quickly without altering the sprites/map too much. Sadly, for a guy like me who has had +500 hours of Photoshop in High School/College, I still haven't figured it out yet. XD
