Sprite Background

Hi, just to preface this, I am really new to rpg maker and I just started using this a couple of days ago. I made a full char sheet and I cannot get them to be transparent. Every source I have looked at has said the same thing: Go to resource manager> import> click background color>boom its transparent> click ok. So I did that, then i went to Database>actors>charset> click the character im using>set>apply. When i press play, the background still shows up on the character. I don't understand why :(( pls help

ah! i appreciate the response, but alpha channels are not compatible with rm2k3 ive found out :(

Did you click the background when importing so it started flashing?
Also what file type is your charset?

i figured it out, actually! every source told me to use a bmp file, which i was using, but that didnt work, so i tried using the original png image and that worked and finally made the sprites transparent

Sorry, I have no idea about it. I delete them immediately.

The first link to the web app was fine, only the second post was the problem.

Okay, I got it. Anyways, I deleted all of them already.
