Does anyone know how to fix the screen refresh issue?

I've been playing Lakria Legends, and some regions i thought were really laggy that they froze the game, yet when i use F5 to lower the window's resolution, constantly, i notice it's a problem in of itself. The screen doesn't refresh, and takes 5 - 20 seconds just to refresh, unless i keep pressing F5 every half second just to keep playing in certain regions.

One region is the area you get the fishing rod. Another is literally the second town after the forest. Those spots just, freeze the window for seconds unless i hit F5.

Does anyone know a way to stop the window freezing so i don't need to keep screwing with the window just to let it run normally?
