How do you change the appearance of the player character?

I am stuck with the blue haired guy, and I can't find any tutorials on how to change him for the 2003 version.

After you open your RPG Maker 2003 project, press F8. When the window pops up it should be in the "Actors" tab. If not, just click the Actors tab at the top left of the pop-up window. Once there you should see the blue haired guy's walking frames, and next to him should be a "Set" button. Click that button, and choose your desired character.

Blue haired guy Zack is the first "actor" in the database. Therefore a new project with the RTP will have a Zack in the 1st Actor slot and he will be the leader.
Copy-Paste another hero over Zack's entry to replace him or change the faceset, charset and battlecharset of Zack (Actor 1).
