Map Tree Data corrupted? Can anyone help?
I've been working on a very personal project, and suddenly the "Map Tree Data" was corrupted, and can't be read, making me lose 80% of the work I did. Is there any way I can fix this? This happened suddenly and for no reason at all as well...

And if this is fixable or not, is there a way i can prevent the data from becoming corrupted? I'd rather not run into this situation again ahaha

This is our first article ever and incredible news! I, Red Giant have discovered a way to overcome the dreaded rm2k3 map tree bug.
First of all, enter the RPG Maker 2003 program. Start a new project, let's call it Project1. Enter a program like Windows Explorer or something similar and find your game folder (The one that was corrupted). Check how many maps there are in this folder, then in the RPG Maker, keep making new maps until you have the same amount. Close the project.
Now, in Explorer, copy EVERY FILE in the folder EXCEPT FOR RPG_RT.lmt and paste them into the new project folder (Project1).
Now, when you open Project1 in the RPG Maker, you'll find all your maps and Database info intact!
Hopefully the knowledge will find its way to many a poor, lost, wandering, game broken souls.... Or such..

As to preventing it, make backups from time to time. The reason for it to break is kinda ambigious even after 17 years however. Something weird happening when the game saves which makes some digits wrong in the file that stores map numbers, chipset, events etc.
