18 Wheels of Steel: Extreme Trucker 2

18 Wheels of Steel: Extreme Trucker 2

Crashes upon start?
Hi,

I have a copy of this game I downloaded from Amazon. I'm posting here because I'm not sure where else to go.
I've recently attempted to go on this game to play for a bit, however it crashes upon start, with the usual "The Program is not responding" or whatever it is message on windows.
Anyways, I've been searching for help but some suggested fixes suggest that I make some changes to the config file for the game. But when I go to where the config file is supposed to be, there is no config file.

Can someone help me please? Is there something wrong with the installation?
I just want to be able to play the game...

create config.cfg in "C:\Users\[your username]\Documents\18 WoS Extreme Trucker 2" and copy text in this link http://smallskill.org/files/et2/config.cfg into it. It should work

Thanks! I'll try that.

One or two people complained that it doesn´t work. In that case you must allow showing file extensions in windows explorer. You can use this video as a tutorial for Window 10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leOBJfEDs_4 Then you will find out that you created "config.cfg.txt" . Remove ".txt" and you are ready to go.

Also, I am running the game as an administrator but I am not sure if that makes any difference. I am too lazy to try it out :D

Also set the compatibility with Windows 7 to the game.

how do you run it in compatibility mode when its all through steam?

resolution of text in your image is too low and I am not able to read it
Your steam games are stored on your hard drive just like any other game. You must go to your steam library directory and then you find game executable. C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\18 WoS Extreme Trucker 2

If you cannot find this directory, maybe your steam app is in ProgramFiles X86 or somthing.

By following the instructions in here I was finally able to get this game to run. The one additional thing that I had to do though was run it as Administrater. Thanks for the help!

read topics regarding this issue three more times, repeat the steps mentioned. If that fails go to SCS oficial forum and send an email to game developers(they actualy responded when Scania trucksim had an online login issue). If everything else fails, you can try to spill a bit of blood on your PC and pray to our dark Lord to resolve the issue in exchange for your soul.
