Hello Figurant "A",
Are you trying to find the save game on your old computer, or on the new one? And are you playing the "Game Maker Legacy" (old) version of the game or the new version?
A new version of the Fran Bow game was released on Steam on 4/28/2023. If you played the game on your old computer before that time, then the save game file is called "savedata.ini" and would be found at this location on your Windows computer:
c:\users\<Your Windows Login Name>\Appdata\Roaming\Fran_Bow\
If you played the game on either computer after the new version was published on Steam, then you had to select whether to play the old version or the new version of the game. See this thread for more information about that:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/362680/discussions/0/3826413850822180638/.
The save game files for the new version of the game are not compatible with the old version and vice versa. So if you played the old version of the game on your old computer and want to continue using your old save game (which you said included your gameplay up to the middle of Chapter 4 of the game), then you'll need to play the " Game Maker Legacy" (old) version of the game. You'll need to copy the "savedata.ini" file from:
c:\users\<Your Windows Login Name>\Appdata\Roaming\Fran_Bow\
on your old computer to the same location on your new computer. And if that location doesn't yet exist on your new computer, you'll either have to create it manually, or play enough of the "Legacy Game Maker" (old) version of the game for the autosave to be created automatically. This requires playing until after the conversation with Dr. Deern is finished, and Fran is back in her bed in the asylum.
If you played the new version of the game, then the save game files are called:
FranBow_X.save and FranBow_X.jpg
(where X is either 0, 1, 2, or 3)
(and the FranBow_0.save and FranBow_0.jpg is the autosave, and the other files are the three possible manual saves the game allows when playing.)
and the new save game files are located here (on Windows computers):
c:\users\<Your Windows Login Name>\Appdata\LocalLow\Killmonday Games AB\Fran Bow\
And, as said earlier in this reply, if you want to play the new version of the Fran Bow game, then you will have to play the game from the beginning because the save game file from the "Game Maker legacy" (old) version of the game will not work with the new version of the game and vice versa.
Also, it's important for you to know that neither version of the Fran Bow game supports cloud saving.
I hope this reply has been helpful. Please post again if you have any questions.
