Hello CreepyGhostGirl,

I'm sorry that you're now having trouble playing Fran Bow now even though you haven't had trouble before. From the information you've given me, it appears that you're using a computer using Windows. Control-Shift-Esc is the keyboard control sequence to open Task Manager under Windows, so I believe that you used Control-Shift-Esc to open Task Manager (and the Fran Bow game then minimizes to the taskbar). Then you just pressed the ESC key at the Task Manager window and then can see the Fran Bow Main Menu (to select either NewGame, Continue, Options, or Quit), but you said that your mouse didn't work at that point.

Did you later use Task Manager to end the Fran Bow game task, and if so, did the mouse then work again?

Forgive me for mentioning a basic troubleshooting step, but since you didn't give any information about any steps you took to troubleshoot before writing your post, I need to ensure that you tried this first. Have you rebooted your computer after you first had trouble playing the game? Rebooting your computer often clears up problems related to getting games to run. If you haven't rebooted your computer since the problem first began, please do that now and then try playing the game again. If you have rebooted your computer, and Fran Bow still fails to run (still doesn't get past the Killmonday Games logo--the red cat), please read on.

Since the game used to work for you and now it doesn't, I wonder if there has been any changes made to your computer that could account for this. Have you installed any programs after you last played Fran Bow which automatically run when you start up your computer? This may account for why now Fran doesn't run. Also, it's always a good idea to not run any other programs while you're playing games. Any programs that you started up by clicking on a shortcut/icon on your desktop or opened using a menu on your Start Menu should be closed before trying to run Fran Bow. I know this is also a basic troubleshooting step and you may have already done this, but I can't be sure, so I mention it here.

So, if after rebooting, and ensuring that extra programs are not running, you still cannot use your mouse when playing Fran Bow, there is another troubleshooting step to take.

Killmonday Games (the developer of the Fran Bow game) has a website that contains a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) guide on their website which details a solution to the problem of the game not going past the initial loading screen (the Killmonday games logo--the red cat) which is also where you said the game "locked up" for you, I believe. There are two main solutions listed, (1) verifying the integrity of the game cache, and (2) making changes to the "options.ini" file present in the Fran Bow game folder. These solutions have allowed gamers to play Fran Bow when they can't get past the Killmonday games logo. Please check out this solution listed in the FAQ on the Killmonday Games website: https://franbowgame.wordpress.com/gamer-support/faq/#noplay .

If after verifying the integrity of the game cache under STEAM, and trying out the various combinations of the "options.ini" file, you still can't get the game to run, please write again and we can investigate further. Should you write again, please include the specs of your computer, Processor, RAM Memory, Operating System, Video Card model, and Available Video RAM, and DirectX version. All of these items can be found by running the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. There is a guide for using the DirectX Diagnostic Tool on the same Killmonday Games website at this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-V4ozvekwP4ZHhLSmppNDNSc2c/view?pref=2&pli=1.

You may also want to consider trying to update your computer's video card drivers. If you have a video card from AMD, NVidia, or Intel, the FAQ has a link to an article you can review which has the links to the websites where you can obtain the current video drivers for your video card. Here is that link: http://www.howtogeek.com/135976/how-to-update-your-graphics-drivers-for-maximum-gaming-performance/.

I hope that you can get Fran Bow to run on your computer again after reviewing the links above. Write again if you still are having trouble.

Me too. No mouse pointer. Black screen on fullscreen startup. Fixed the blackscreen using other post. Can't fix the mouse issue.

Edit: Game can't be played fullscreen (no mouse) and can't be played windowed (at 1080 my taskbar obscures dialogue options, at 1440 the game crashes).

Refunded and left a review. The devs have had 6 years to fix this problem. Inexcusable.
