Please don't change engine for Fran Bow 2!
I saw in the dev livestream talking about Fran Bow 2, that Fran Bow was made in Game Maker and they are now using Unity. I wanted to say, I really hope when FB2 comes out you will not make the gameplay different from Fran Bow 1.

The way a game plays, the graphical style, game engine, the point and click design - that contributes to a certain atmosphere that is now inseparably associated with Fran Bow in my mind, and surely the minds of most/many others.

Fran Bow 2 made very differently from the first installment wouldn't feel right. Even if it were "better" by every technical measure, doesn't matter. It would still be disappointing to play something with a different soul. It would feel alien.

Anyway, that's my opinion on this. Hope the devs see it and consider it.

Hi! This is a great point, thanks for that!

The reason why we are changing to Unity is because of the flexibility it gives us to work and make Fran available for different platforms. Would this mean we will change everything? Not at all! Any changes in Fran Bow 2 compared to Fran Bow will be because of the story, and how we want to present it. It would be the same deal regardless of the engine we use. But I understand your worry 100%! Change can be a scary thing, but it's in good hands :)

Ah, and we would have to change the engine anyway, because the support for our version of Gamemaker has ended! :'(

Different engine generally means different look and feel. If not, great, but best to assume the worst and let the devs know we don't want it.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

If this and Technobabylon 2 are both good despite new engines, I'll be very happy.

Nothing wrong with Unity. The developers know what they are doing. :steamhappy: Don't worry. It will be a great game. :HangingController:
