Is there a cheat/hack to recover from a chasm fall?
I've got a save with probably 8+ hours of progress, fully kitted out with me and Derrin both, I had a cheap fall into an abyss in Gentry and exited prior to hitting the end-game. Is there a way to edit my save to re-set the position and recover this save?

I've about had my fill of this game and cheap deaths. I purposely play without the save points, but when the level forces you to take so many risks around insta-death drops, and gives you literally no say in how safely you're able to navigate the garbage terrain, it's verging on a big F-you from the devs.

Can't help you with restoring the save, but I can say that most areas with chasms blocking them off have different paths leading to them that doesn't require any tight rope walking.

I was going after the scepter. There's no alternate route to get it. I didn't need it though, but was trying to acquire all the best/special gear/items.

A hack called save scum.

Yeah, I don't know that there's a solution if you're already falling. All I can offer is a solution for future runs: you can clone the files created upon exiting to menu in C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Roaming\Exanima. If you rename a copied file back to just Exanima001 or what have you the game will read it as the character save. Useful because upon death it deletes it (and restores from the .rcp, if there is one).

If you were using that route to the scepter that goes over multiple abysses with the plank bridges then there is an alternative path, you can enter the abyss room from the opposite side and then walk along the ledge in the direction of the scepter room. At that point the door will be above you and the stairs will be visible, there is a small patch of broken wall which is uneven terrain and it's next to the abyss but it leads to the stairs you would arrive at after doing the risky plank bridge strategy. When you go up the stairs and collect the scepter you can just drop down in front of the door to the scepter room and walk back along the ledge.

Yes, I'm aware and that is where I turfed it. This whole section to get to the scepter is garbage. Right before you get to that section it makes you walk under some overhead crap and the camera gets completely F'd so you can't see what you're doing. That's not why I fell, I fell because your guy can't navigate the terrain that they built into the level. If the mechanics of the game can't avoid falling over rough terrain, maybe don't put it right next to an abyss, especially when your game has perma-death. Just some common sense. Yes, the scepter isn't required for anything, but the game is about exploration, and has no ending at the moment, so getting everything of value and exploring every inch of the level is kind of the point. I've already gotten past this point with another character, so I wasn't as fearful of this happening as I should have been, but it just points out the major flaw in this type of level design.

You do realise that you have these neat abilities that let you avoiding risking your own life? Especially if you are not confident with platforming? When you have the tools to mitigate the risks, but don't use them, it's entirely your fault. That being said, the devs are working to add a save system to the game so that you don't need to start from the archives again or save scum.

Clearly you don't read or comprehend. I explained why I took the risk. At some point you run out of purpose in the game, there's no end, you have to find things to do. None of which excuses the flaws in both level design and the flawed movement. The whole point of this "rant" is to point out that you should not put such deadly terrain and deadly death pits in the way of players when you also have perma death in your game. Anybody pushing back on this is just being argumentative for the sake of it.

There is a way to save before attempting something like walking the chasm, but there is no way of "restoring" or "returning" the save if you haven't copied the Exanima folder from appdata beforehand.

There is a less risky path to the scepter, I don't know how to explain it, but it's an alternate route that doens't require you to make that BS chasm-pipe parkour

The spot I fell doesn't involve any pipes.

This is incorrect. With help, my save was edited and recovered.
