It is nice being able to swap to fists for funzies but it takes away from the challenge. Sure it'll be "neat" to see the enemy wip out a dagger to cheat in a fist fight, but for the time being I'd rather just see it disabled for Arena.
In the future I hope it adds to your total encumberment, and maybe make it visible what you have "sheathed".
During pugilism, do you bring in a huge sword against your weaponless enemy? No.
2ndary weapons are not exception - they should be disabled for pugilism.
And if anything else, if the 2ndary fits the rank, it ABSOLUTELY needs to be allowed.
Secondaries for Arena mode are still uncessary with the current equip-rank system in place. It's already tedious enough to acquire and set up gear for each rank, on each character/hirling.
Imagine a Halberd with a flanged mace with buckler combo. I could wreck everyone.
Or plate armor with long sword and shield and my secondary would be to stowe my shield. Now my sword is quicker due to less encumbrance.
It gives your fighter more options versus that hapless npc wonk.
But even then, it doesn't matter if it's tedious. It's your choice if you want a 2ndry weapon for your recruit.
But even then, the npc (when even better ai comes) could do the same.
So now it's not op, it's like complaining about the opponent switching weapons in a game like Dark Souls (not comparing the game generally btw).
