Splint cuisses 99.9% useless

With the current stats on the spllint cuisses, they are pretty much useless. I can't see anyone using them unless they are so impatient that they can't wait to earn 2 more gold pieces for plate cuisses. They need to have another 1/2 point of impact protection and be 1/2 point less encumbering in order to have any use. At the minimum, they need the encumberance reduction in order to justify wasting money on them.

im pretty sure the splint one just has more coverage than the plate one and if you want more coverage in return for less protection stat wise its just a personal thing i suppose

I know the cuirass has a little more coverage, but I don't think the cuisses do.

What they should do is make them cover the back of the leg too. And maybe add some splint boots.

That would work as well, but I would like to see some type of armor that is lighter than plate that has decent protection in all catagories. The splint armor would have been perfect if it were a bit lighter. Or maybe the plate armor just needs to be more encumbering?

By plate armor, I mean like the plate cuisses and breast plate.

I agree. Splint stuff needs work. Does the cuirass still cost as much as full blown plate mail? It's over 3 times as expensive as other cuirasses.

Agreed the split stuff is mostly for looks - expensive looks.

The superior splint cuirass is still 20 gold. It's got to be a glitch that they'll fix sooner or later.

It's definitely my favorite in terms of looks. I always ran around with not-quite-plate armor in M&B though with plate-tier level of protection, just because I liked the look better.

I like the looks of the splint gauntlets and the cuirass, but I just can't bring myself to waste the money on something with worse protection, same encumbrance, and really close to the price of the equivalent plate pieces. I'd like to outfit my duel wielders with it.

Would be awesome if we got splint-everything-else. This would be my armor of choice, forever. I think the new elbow armor works for this + new plate vambraces up to the elbow. Are there splint-type pauldrons? Boots/greaves would be the other thing missing, right?

I keep wanting to replace the exceptional black leather vambraces [the kind that go up the elbow more and down over the hand a little] on one character, but nothing else does anything miraculous to make it worthwhile and I haven't seen light/exceptional versions yet. Half my characters run around with leather vambraces. I have not had any issues on Expert/Master yet from this. A lot of the armor you guys wear is unnecessary imo. Still... I'd wear splint & reconfigure my armor setups, just because it looks awesome.

There are exceptional leather vambraces, and yea, it's hard to not use them all the way up to master level. The metal vambraces are nice as well, but I would rather save the point and encumberance difference.
There is a new looking spaulder set that matches the look of the splint armor. It has the same stats as the old set with the largest coverage. It is metal with a leather trim around it.

Parts of it are in the arena game mode. Random chance of finding it in the store.
