that makes no sense when theyre already in my face within seconds so i cant really use anything but a dagger and i dont wanna use that
i believe you can do a quick switch to another weapon set now cant you?
so id recommend having a long weapon that can poke and a dagger of sorts.
if these things come close just switch and start shivving the ♥♥♥♥ out of them. you only have to hit once to win from them as they will have to restart their attack animation so you can then just keep stabbing till its ded

The key is to put distance. You can hardly block their attacks, so you got to avoid it : when you see them begin to attack, you step back while initiating an attack; doing so will make your character avoid the hit, and provided you timed your moves appropriately you should hit them with the tip of your weapon.

Distance management and timing your attacks is the key in most fights.
The longer your weapons, the easier against them, but you can manage to do it with most weapons of the game (dual wielding swords or sabers is probably the most effective way to cheese them).

Nb : Someone on discord posted something interesting in the feature-report channel : ducking forces the enemies to overhead and demons tend to not step forward to much when they overhead, meaning you can easily dodge their overheads and punish them hardly. Never tried myself, probably won't, but it seemed effective against "Sir".

That leaves 2 of those monsters, but I get the picture. They really love close quarter, so scimitars and daggers can force them off. If you really wanna get technical, greatswords and polearms can be swung while backing off to keep them away, or deal devastating damage. As for getting them off with said weapons, no idea.

I think they patched that part out in the betas.

Well there are plenty of boxes you can loot that contain rotted meat just drop it on the ground near them after that they just follow you around and fight for you.Pro Tips

they are probably the easiest enemies in the game. I mean real enemies, not the poor zombies on first levels. they are totally naked, even big ghouls have no armor and they have nothing but short claws. they need to be improved. some sort of group AI, like a pack of wolves or something. then sewers and market will be really scary and dangerous. they need attack you and retreat in darkness, they need to surround you, they need to corner you. but now u grab like 2 scimitars or spear/zweihander and sewers is just a walk in the park, ghouls just run one by one or maximal two into you and suicide.

Agreed, I'd also like to see them act like that. Maybe stalk you from afar and call in any nearby friends to help out till they were confident enough to attack.

It would also be pretty cool if they were afraid of fire since they mostly live in darkness and that would finally give a benefit to using the torch to help keep them at bay.

Also if they're hugging you and you can't back away from them push into them until they try to back off and as soon as they do you back off as well. This way their attacks do minimal damage and you can reliably get away from them. Depending on the surroundings you can also push past them a lot of times.

I ended them all with a short sword and I'm bad at gaming. I don't think you're trying hard enough. If you're really struggling grab the golem armor.

i could do all of that but i really prefer not to cheese the game with specific items to defeat something when the game revolves around realistic combat i just figure id have a MUCH more fun time just fighting more unique humanoid characters like the others instead of monsters like im playing the witcher.

Im amazed at the amount of people here who deals with them no problem !!!
Personally for me they and Faels are the hardest enemies so far. No golems or their president gave me such a head/heart ache like those abominations :steamsalty:
But this exactly why i'm replaying those areas :steammocking: I like and afraid of them equally. I'm also not using best gear against them, just what i get from Sir' level.
My way of 1v1: 1) step forward with attack then step back IMMEDIATELY. Ghouls usually attack back so you'll avoid their attack and deal damage (in theory).
2) spear pokes with back pedalling (but you seem to dislike this method).
3) poleaxe/hammer (IMHO most dangerous !!! if sweet spot didn't connect .... stunlocking to death, especially with Fael. but if it does, they deal most of damage among of all weapons).
Good luck !!!
