ADD CO-OP
Please add co-op ASAP. Not only because I feel the game already feels like a perfect game for co-op but your game will easily be picked up by many, many more players.

I can already imagine some high level youtubers or streamers noticing a new co op game with wonky but beautiful mechanics, and how two streamers interaction and trying to progress through the game would be hilarious. It would be free marketing for your game and could get huge.
Not to mention I personally want to play this with my friends, playing it alone is an experience by itself but now I want to share that experience with someone, and I can't which is a shame.

Creating netcode for multiplayer is it's own huge beast to overcome in game development. If they do that, I'm pretty sure they are going to save it for Sui Generis.

It'll happen along the line - basically a "finished when it's finished" deal. Regarding promoting the game, though, they aren't interested in that until it's at least complete.

Co-op is confirmed by the devs as well as PVP for arena, so don´t worry. However it will not be anytime soon. There are higher priority things to be sorted out first (arena update, completing story mode content, etc).

If they added Internet co-op the game would have to have it's physics stripped to just doors, enemies and characters. They could potentially bake physics outcomes into the game, but I don't know how they'd manage it.

Unfortunately, trying to add any level of internet multiplayer outside character-only arena battles would be very difficult with all the physics enabled - this is my assumption; without knowing how their engine works I could be wrong, but I know global multiplayer + physics can be a nightmare.

They have co-op planned, but it's only LAN co-op it seems (aka couch co-op)

Yeah I heard that. It has to be linked to the same device/network session running the game. Theoretically you could use Steam Remote Play to play over the internet.

Like Hobin Rood said. You dont just "put it in" it is a huge amount of work rivaling the entire base game.

id love to see this as well but it might be better to ask for mod support to a modder can do this for them

It's happening as stated before. They're working on it in parallel with the rest of the game, so it's a matter or time before it's complete.

In more short time lapse: splitscreen? (or just several characters on one screen that are more or less forced to move together)

Co-op would be cool.
Not that I have friends to play this with, but it would be fun watching content creators accidentally killing each other. :brotherskull:

Has anything changed since 2021?

Well, yes and no. Yes because we know when the devs will work on it, and no because it is not now. After full release.

Physics are SOOOO hard to do in multiplayer.... ignore half-life 2 which came out 10 years ago...
